I spent my morning at the Savoy shopping centre, visiting the pharmacy, the Auchan supermarket and the Tedi shop, respectively. Which means that the hours in which I still am alive enough to do my crafting or writing were lost. Consequently, I didn't do either of those today. But at least I found some beautiful lace border - butterflies with tiny rosebuds in pale pink and white - and Bastelstreusel - little princess crowns in pale pink, hot pink and gold - that will fit the new baby book wonderfully, so it wasn't a total waste of time.

Mum and I shared kitchen duty today: I peeled and chopped the potatoes and she did the actual cooking, then watched some telly, talked to our respective friends on the phone and took a nap. And with that, the day was basically over... an unpleasant side effect of getting old.

Your title sent me into so much confusion; I read the title and sat there thinking “but she’s in the northern hemisphere and entering spring/summer, how can her days be getting shorter?” And then I read your actual post and couldn’t stop laughing at the thought of how my mind is sometimes stupidly literal. My days are getting shorter, literally and metaphorically! We’e finally entering the blissful seasons of autumn/winter, and I’ve had a nasty health flare up so I do not have much time out of bed. Still the flare up is settling down and the weather is delightfully mild and cool.

Well, it always depends on how you plan your days.
Just imagine how short days are when you have that pesky task of "work" and you work 10+ hour days!

Strangely enough, I managed to get a lot more done while I was still working full time and had private students. Granted, I was 30+ years younger then, too.

The new baby book does sound as if it will be lovely — at least a bonus from all the shopping time.

Isn´t it strange, but same here: One morning spent with shopping, and I suffer from burnout syndrome! And it´s getting worse!

It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one. ;))

Like you, I find I got more done at home when I worked. But yeah, that was many years ago and younger me had an overabundance of energy. I'm sure the new baby book, like the others, will be lovely!

I know what you mean with the lack of energy. After having gone through Mum's morning routine (and mine before that) I'm actually done for the rest of the day. In theory anyway. In reality there is always a lot to do later, too.
