... but this time I didn't really mind. I started with baking the sponge for Mum's birthday cake - I'll make the filling tonight - and continued with cooking for two days in advance. Mary Berry's chicken pasta bake is the one thing I actually like to cook. And this time I bought fresh egg Spätzle at Aldi, as well as grated Gouda, so the end result was nothing short fantastic. I've also made carrot soup and a salad, so we'll have enough leftovers for the birthday lunch tomorrow.

At the same time, we did a second round of laundry because Mum looked up her notes and realized that it was time to do the bedlinens. Fortuantely, Louise the washing machine did most of the work, so that was okay.

That didn't leave much time for anything else (save for some crap telly and a short nap), but I'm not worried about that. At least I've managed to transcribe another page of the "Charmed" crossover, so there has been some progress, too. Tomorrow promises to be busy again, what with the birthday and the physiotherapist ad choir practice, but I hope I can do some crafting on Wednesday again.

Oh. I so love those days, when the washing of the bedding is due! It´s mostly because my husband insists that it has to get done early in the morning, so that he can have his favourite one back in the evening... We have a three-drawer dresser full with bedding, but no, not the right one!

What is he gonna do when his favourite set falls apart from overuse and old age?

I don’t think we can buy Spätzle here, but once every blue moon my aunt will make some. Her wrists are too arthritic to use the Spätzle press (don’t know the proper name for it) but my mum helps her squeeze the Spätzle press. They have it all organised! They also do Pretzle and Saltzstangen. My favourites! Especially Pretzle!!!

Laugenbretzel are the best! Sometimes I buy frozen ones at Aldi; ones that need to be baked up in the oven. They are yummy, but the best ones in my life I had a decade or so ago in Hamburg.
