How is half the month over again? *shakes head in amazement*

Anyway, I did a big shopping tour today to fill up the mostly empty fridge. Food prices have become somewhat shocking, but at least I won't have to go out again until Tuesday; Wednesday, if we make our rations cleverly.

By the way, I also posted the last two Christmas cards, so [livejournal.com profile] aeris444 and [livejournal.com profile] chocolate_frapp can start watching their post boxes, too. I'm sorry, gals, I don't think they'll reach you in time, but I was so busy with the Christmas baking and the fair preparations that I didn't come around to write them. Do forgive me. *insert puppy dog eyes*

Speaking of the fair, there aren't any photos yet, but I'll post them as soon as I can, promise!

Other than the big shopping tour, I didn't do much today. Mum decided to wash all the ceramic jars containing spices and the likes, but I was tired and took a nap in the afternoon. I'll put them back to their places tomorrow.

Just to have at least some pictures in this post, we are talking about these lovely oldies (nearly 200 years old - well, except the things from Harrods, that is):

As a rule, there are narrow embroidered drapes edging the shelves and some red ceramics on the upper shelf, but this photo was taken for the old jars and containers, exclusively.

They really are. I wouldn't exchange them for anything in the world.

The old ones clearly knew how to make cool stuff. ;)

They look lovely. I would be terrified of using anything two hundred years old.

I understand that. But we've always been using them; that's what I'd seen from Grandma and Mum, and we've always been careful. In all those years, all I've broken was one lid. Fortunately, we had a spare, so I guess someone else must have broken the jar belonging to it way before my time. ;)

Yes, they come from my Saxon great-great-grandmother or somesuch. The details are a bit blurred. ;)

Very pretty jars you have! I have a similar set from my great-grandmother, but mine is hidden in a cabinet. I am not fond of dusting or, God beware, washing them too often!

Mum washes ours twice a year; that's more than enough, I guess.

I'm happy to get cards, I don't mind if they're late.

Especially as they've moved with us alone at least four times.
