Today I gave another biscuit recipe with Brazil nuts a try. It's a German recipe, and the name means toffee kisses, for the reason that they have caramel cream in the middle. Don't be afraid to take a look, virtual calories don't count:

Mum, the physiotherapist lady and yours truly are in complete agreement that the things are delicious, even though they don't look too pretty. They also require a lot of finicky work, so I may not make another batch all too soon. But it was worth a try.

Other than that, I cooked for two days, squeezed in a tiny bit of writing, typed up what I'd written yesterday, had a phone chat with our conductor who's currently having bronchitis and can barely speak, save then sing, and worked a bit on the binding of the baby books. Not much, just measuring and cutting out the cardboard for the inner binding - a complicated task, as the books have different sizes. As hectic as this week is, I still hope to get the binding done. That would be a huge relief.

I have to print this photo out, so that hubby will finally grasp that I want to have my breakfast undisturbed! Cookies look delicious!

While we could still travel and get to Austria regularly, Mum used to collect these Brettchen. We've got about 6 or 8 of them, I'm not sure. This is my favourite. My second favourite says: "NEIN! Sonst noch Fragen?" *g*

"delicious even though they don't look too pretty"

sounds like a Chinese dish I make but would never take a picture of: it contains ground pork, eggs, tofu and bean thread noodles, it's like eating a big plate of protein and it tastes great but it looks awful!

Those really do look like a lot of work, but I think they're pretty. :)

That they are. The basic cookies are very easy to make: just butter (well, margarine), sugar, one egg yolk, vanilla, cocoa powder, a pinch of salt and flour. It's the rolling in chopped nuts part — and making the caramel filling — that is finicky. But I think they'd actually taste yummy "naked", too.

Those goodies would not last twenty-four hours in my house. They sound yummy.

They are. We were only able to withstand eating them within the day because my cousin might have come to visit today — which he didn't. The life expectation of the cookies has shortened considerably by that fact. *g*
