Advent, Day 24

Or alternately Christmas Eve, which is the actual big day over here, under the rock where I live. Not that it would have been such a big deal in our two-person little family, of course. But we tried to make it nice.

This is our Christmas tree:



The angels, the garlands and the 3D starts are self-made, the glass baubles and the wooden pictures obviously aren't. *g*

And this is the total of my cookies, all self-made:



19 sorts altogether, most of which have gone off to 7 different families. This is what's left, plus some rests in two tin boxes. I also managed to bake the log cake, for the first time in my life, and it turned out wonderfully! I might take a photo tomorrow, so proud am I.

Other than that, it was a quiet day. The big Christmas dinner (or rather Christmas lunch) will take place tomorrow. Today, we ate leftover Champignonfleisch and the cookies donated by a neighbour in exchange for the ones I gave her. We had a few nice phone calls from friends and family and had a good day altogether.

I am no good at crafts and am totally envious of people who can make their own Xmas tree ornaments.

Oh, I started crafting at a fairly late age as well — and everyone can learn to do it, with just a bit patience and practice. Believe me, I'm not that skilled, either, but I enjoy experimenting, and sometimes things turn out better than expected. I'd like to encourage you to give it a try; you'll be surprised.

Here in Hungary we have special candy to hang on the tree, available only during Advent and Christmas time. But we gave up on it years ago, when we still had real, living Christmas trees; they got too damaged while we pilfered the candy. So now we simply put the candy in a bowl under the tree. Only that this year we ate it before Christmas eve, because we are two gluttons before the Lord. *g*
