Let's start with the good: unexpectedly enough I've managed to do the rest of the Velcro work, so the match-the-colour page is basically finished - save for the seaming, but that can't be done before the corresponding page (the one it will be stitched together) is also done.

The bad: after a break of three blissful weeks of peace and quiet, my digestion is acting up again. Having the runs is not fun... to put it mildly.

The unpleasant: we had our bi-weekly cleaning day. I hate cleaning. Also, Mum is upset because the cleaning lady has raised her prices without telling it straightforward in advance. Mum doesn't have any problems with the raised prices - the poor woman has to live, too, and this is her only income - she'd just have liked to have a warning. She doesn't react well to the unexpected; but again, neither do I, and I'm 24 years younger.

Little Emma had her 3rd birthday yesterday. I tried to call the family (belatedly), but nobody answered the phone. They're probably having a garden party or whatnot. So I've sent an e-mail and will try again tomorrow. We still haven't seen the kid in flesh since she was ten months old or so. :(

I can see being cranky about a sudden price increase after they've done the thing.

Happens all the time in these days, unfortunately. *sigh*

Yes, raising prices without letting you know first is a bit naughty. Most 'businesses' give fair warning, because it is a change to the contract (whether written or verbal). It sounds like you are happy with her services, however, so it may be just a matter of asking her to give you a week's notice next time.

To be fair to her, she did mention earlier that she'd have to raise prices, but I think Mum didn't expect such a hefty rise.

I hope you feel better soon!

I know what you mean about unexpected price increases — our kitchen blew out a little but the man in charge (who has done work for us for 20 years) warned us at the start that it might, what with everything happening in the world, and we expected it anyway. On the other hand, going to the supermarket or petrol station at the minute... {shakes head}

Yeah, I know. Every time I go to the supermarket I'm courting a heart attack. *sigh*

Self-employed people are the only ones who are able to compensate the hole in the purse!

In theory that is true, of course. Even though our cleaning lady has to work herself into an early grave to make ends meet... despite the raise.

Advance notice really would have been good, but maybe it was a last minute decision?

Lots going on! I hope your digestion settles. Birthday parties for little ones are the best!
