I got up much earlier than usual (it was too warm to sleep) and took down yesterday's laundry in the early morning hours. Like, half past six - which is perversely early for Sunday, if you ask me.

In any case, this fact allowed me a little creative time later in the morning, so I brought forth all my acrylic paints and started painting the spoon-shaped ice-cream sticks. Just one side of them, of course, since they need to dry properly before I'd attack the other one. I've tried 8 different colours and finished 24 sticks (one-sidedly). I think the paints I already have will suffice, with the single exception of silver. I definitely need a pot of that for Christmas ornaments.

As much as I enjoyed the results, this episode reminded me why I never really liked anything that included paint. It is messy! And since my working surface is about one square metre, I had to be very, very careful. But I'm glad to report that acrylic paint seems to work on the things, so - 24 halves down, ten times as many to go. I won't be bored until Christmas, it seems.

On the writing front, I wrote a few paragraphs leading up to the big finale. It appears that the closer I get, the harder it is to find the right words and phrasing and stuff. But I'm determined to finish it this time. 16 years for one story are 15 years too many, dammit!

Otherwise we are fine, although Mum's still suffering from the heat. I made Rösti today and we ate the leftover couscous to it. Tomorrow I'll have to think about something different to cook.

Waking up at 6:30 am on a Sunday is just plain wrong ;)
You always have such great ideas for creative projects! I enjoy painting with acrylics too, despite not being very good at it.

Rösti and couscous is a combination I wouldn't have thought of but now I am intrigued to try it.

Well, couscous had very little actual couscous in it, but a great deal of grated carrots and apples and a handful of raisins. *g*

I got up at 6.45 this morning ... 😉
The joys of travelling, breakfast was at 7.30 and I had to pack as well.
And I hate being rushed in the morning.

Ah, yes, travelling. I remember having done something like that, back in the Stone Age... that is three years ago. It was glorious. *sigh*

That's indeed perversely early for a Sunday! Working with paint is a messy job which can turn into disaster if you aren't careful. I bet each paint pot has a tiny devil in it who only waits for the right moment to overturn the pot!

Mine rather tend to refuse opening at all. ;)

At least acrylic paints clean up with water. Working with oil based paint was so much worse, I always made a horrendous mess.

Never tried those, but I can imagine.

Acrylic is my favourite paint medium, because it can be thinned to give a wash or left thick to be opaque. I find it does tend to ruin brushes, however, no matter how carefully I clean them after use.

I use the cheapest possible brushes — the ones the supermarket had on sale every year when the school term is about to start — so I won't shed any tears if I have to replace them. ;)

Discount shops also have a lot of quite reasonable brushes.

One can never have too much silver craft paint and that's an absolute truth. Especially because Xmas.

That's the idea, yes.
