Messy, messy day
Jul. 11th, 2021 05:52 pmI got up much earlier than usual (it was too warm to sleep) and took down yesterday's laundry in the early morning hours. Like, half past six - which is perversely early for Sunday, if you ask me.
In any case, this fact allowed me a little creative time later in the morning, so I brought forth all my acrylic paints and started painting the spoon-shaped ice-cream sticks. Just one side of them, of course, since they need to dry properly before I'd attack the other one. I've tried 8 different colours and finished 24 sticks (one-sidedly). I think the paints I already have will suffice, with the single exception of silver. I definitely need a pot of that for Christmas ornaments.
As much as I enjoyed the results, this episode reminded me why I never really liked anything that included paint. It is messy! And since my working surface is about one square metre, I had to be very, very careful. But I'm glad to report that acrylic paint seems to work on the things, so - 24 halves down, ten times as many to go. I won't be bored until Christmas, it seems.
On the writing front, I wrote a few paragraphs leading up to the big finale. It appears that the closer I get, the harder it is to find the right words and phrasing and stuff. But I'm determined to finish it this time. 16 years for one story are 15 years too many, dammit!
Otherwise we are fine, although Mum's still suffering from the heat. I made Rösti today and we ate the leftover couscous to it. Tomorrow I'll have to think about something different to cook.

Rösti and couscous is a combination I wouldn't have thought of but now I am intrigued to try it.

And I hate being rushed in the morning.
