Got my second jab today. Still no sign of sprouting excess hair or barking, so I guess I'm not about to turn into the space-faring dog Laika, after all. (For the very young among us, she was the first ever space traveller - sent up by the Russians somewhen in the 1950s or 1960s or whatnot.)

Other than that, I was on kitchen duty today. I cooked for the next two days in advance, which is fortunate because I haven't managed to do the weekly laundry as well, so that will have to be done tomorrow. Not having to cook on the same day is a relief.

No creative activities whatsoever today. All I did was to pre-pick the next stitched card. It will be a large egg that was originally supposed to be beaded but I think I'll go for metallic thread instead. We'll see.

I hope you're all having a restful weekend.

That story about Laika chills me to the bone everytime.
Imagine starving all alone far far faaaar away from Earth.

Actually, she died from overheating, according to Wikipedia. Not that that would be any better. But at least she'll never be forgotten.

Oh goodness, I hope that went more quickly. She must have been terrified.

Let's hope she passed out from the heat early on.

Laika was at the end of the 50s, if I remember correctly.

Yep, I've just looked it up. 1957, IIRC. I was one year old... *g*

Yay for the jab.

I'm hoping to get my first one soon.

The jab itself doesn't hurt a bit. After the first one I had no side effects at all, either. Now, after the second one my arm is a tiny bit swollen and red around the needle mark, but they say it's to be expected and will go away on its own. I hope they are right.

That doesn't sound too bad. I've got some friends who have suffered with fever and exhaustion after their vaccination.

I know. I consider myself lucky. It's just inconvenient.

But not easy to work with.

The card looks like it will be very pretty. I spent most of Saturday watching Chinese TV again...and will probably do the same today.

As good a way to spend your time as many others. Have fun! :)

I think that actually I´d prefer Sputnik to Astra. Have been a lot of accidents with this one recently in Austria!

Every vaccine may or may not have side effects. I had none after the first jab but now I have some mild ones after the second one.

The card is lovely, I imagine the metallic thread one will be also. Glad your vaccinations have gone well with relatively few side effects.

The metallic thread one is almost finished. I'm just tinkering with the middle part. Haven't quite figured out what design I want to use for that.
