Well, the party is over. It was a great success, although Cirdan would have laughed her head off hearing us trying to sing that song I transcribed from a disk. We sounded like lovesick cats. Then we played Rommie (with little wooden chips instead of cards - the cousins of my Mum made those when they were kids), ate a lot and laughed a lot. It was nice. We agreed that a witch party at Halloween would be a must.

I've typed up the fragment of Chapter 16 of "Kansas" and consulted with my co-conspirator about the Secret Project(TM). It was a nice but exhausting day. I think reading some strange Houston Knights fic and going to bed early would be in order.

Tomorrow, it'll be all about politics as we are going to vote for our Europe Parliament representatives. It's about time that it'll be done. The recent campaign contained so much mud-throwing that it was almost worthy a fandom war. *shakes head* Politicians.

Well, there is not much an individual can do in a society that practically has no social awareness, but I'd like to be to do what little I can. I think a one-girl-project for one person is big enough. *g*

I have to wait until she gets an ID, of course, so that she'd be able to get her money later. And I intend to follow her way in secondary school, to see how she is doing. I plan this project as some kind of private scholarship - the level of support will depend on her individual efforts at school. It has been my experience that kids appreciate things they had to work for a lot more. And the fact hat she will be rewarded for her efforts in a practical way should be inspiring. Or so I hope.

You know, I was thinking of joining the Hungarian Tolkien Society. I went to their website and checked the requirements. They demand a membership fee that I find a little too high, so I decided against joining. I'll invest the same sum of money into the future of this kid; I think it'd give me more satisfaction. Yes, I'm a selfish person. *g*

Selfish! I don't think so, or you'd not be even considering your private scholarship for this girl. More people should be helpful and caring towards to a bright young lady and the world would be a better place.

I took a look at her photo and she looks to be a very intelligent girl. Very bright eyed, and I bet inquisitive!

Oh, yes, she is inquisitive. :))
Of course, she is two or three years older now, but looks basically the same. She's an imp, definitely. Very good at maths, reads a lot, is a member of the school choir and the art course (she draws well). Plus, whatever extra work there is the others won't do, she is willing to help with it. I guess having two younger siblings and an overworked Mum does count in this department.

Nothing like training kids to work when they're young, and certainly being part of a larger family helps. She certainly sounds like a nice kid and one who deserves a private scholarship.
