I got really pissed this week. I've realized that I haven't been on a holiday for two years and haven't actually left the city for over a year. And now there will be no Christmas markets in town, no annual charity fair at school, no nothing. All because of this f*ed up virus and the idiots who can't be arsed to be more careful.
So I decided that I'll have a very different Christmas this year. I've saved a lot of money by missing out on two holidays and several trips to Austria, and I chose to spend it on baking ingredients I'd never have bought otherwise because they are so unreasonably expensive.
Therefore I've stocked up on almonds, hazelnuts, cashew nuts, pecan nuts, walnuts, pine nuts, candied fruits and the likes. I got a bit dizzy when I saw the bill, but the whole thing was still cheaper than a single ticket to Vienna, so it's okay. I'll try out brand new Christmas cookie recipes and give away the surplus to my friends - probably by placing a filled tin box in front of their door or whatnot. But the Christmas baking is going to be opulent this year and I'm going to enjoy every single minute of it. Take that, stupid Covid!
