Since one makes the first corrections and adjustments while typing up hand-written stuff and all that. In that spirit I did a lot of writing today - I typed up the almost six pages that I wrote two days ago. It took me some effort because I felt rather lazy after having cooked all morning, but I'm glad now that I did it.

“I don’t like this,” Trevor muttered. “I’ve never been in a UNIT facility that would have been so tightly watched; and I worked for them for more than a year after Canary Wharf.”

“Stop fidgeting,” Lloyd warned him. “You’ll just make everyone suspicious. Look at Ms Smith; she’s cool as a cucumber.”

Sarah Jane grinned at them encouragingly. “I’m a journalist and an ex-companion. Sneaking into secret UNIT lab s is an old hat for me.”

Before and after the heroic feat I had nice, long phone chats with my friends Erica and Elise, respectively, made another matchbox gift box for the Advent calendar and hunted down some more videos from the zoo Hagenbeck on YouTube, since the channel they show them is pixellated beyond endurance in the afternoon. It's not so bad in the morning, so it must be the satellite moving into a disadvantageous position or whatnot.

I also watched Paul Hollywood's City Bakes and River Monsters - these are the objects of regular enjoyment in the evening, as there is nothing else of interest on the telly.

Thinking of it, I really consume too much television in these days. But the sad truth is, my brain just isn't up to more intellectual activities. Considering how much I used to read when I was a decade or two younger, it is a shame, honestly. I only read for research nowadays. And fanfic.

Don't be too hard on yourself. A lot of people are finding it hard to concentrate with the covid stress. 'covid brain.'

Or rather the complete lack of higher brain functions. On some days going through my (fairly simple) routine takes gargantuan effort, too.

Thinking of it, I really consume too much television in these days. Yeah ... me too. It's all my brain seems to be capable to do these days.

And only nice, easy programmes, too - like Cake Boss, zoo reports and the likes.

My reading goes through phases. I can read, non stop, for days, then not open a book for weeks.

Most of my reading (fanfic and research) happens online nowadays.

I think transcribing is still writing, just as research, taking notes and all that stuff is part of the writing effort. I have been working hard to not watch more TV than before - note the word trying. I do need to read more and cook less.

I know what you mean. For me, it is obsessive baking.

Sounds like a very good day!

Congrats on the transcribing. That was a lot of pages, a lot of good progress. I've been working on a story for a Halloween challenge lately. It's good fun. And I'm looking forward to getting back to an old WIP in November's pico!

I'm not familiar with PH's City Bakes! I'm adding it to my TV watch list:)

Basically, he visits various cities, from Miami to St. Petersburg and from Copenhagen to Rome and takes a look at the bread and cakes there. It is very funny.

Nothing wrong with watching a lot of TV with this covid shit on. I'm sure almost everyone is doing this.

I know. I'm just annoyed with myself for not putting my time to better use.

I used to be able to read for hours, now I can barely read a few pages without falling asleep. It is not that what I am reading is boring, I just cannot stay awake. I'm a bit better with TV, but still end up dozing quite a bit, then have to re-watch all of what I missed. Luckily, I can do so, as I mostly watch streamed dramas through my Firestick. I have abandoned cable TV, too expensive for what is offered. I do find I am watching way more TV since Covid, so don't feel alone.

I've just put down my foot and decided to give up the zoo reports in the morning. They're nice but not that interesting, and they eat the best hours of the morning. I'm now doing the shopping at that time or some crafting or writing; a much better use of my time. And Christmas baking will start soon anyway, so I'll be way too busy for daytime television.
