So, my friends, it's time for us to party! You are welcome to the virtual cookies and to the Hobbit-style birthday gifts. Five of you asked for a story, and here is the list to find them:

Halloween for [livejournal.com profile] lindahoyland

I Didn't Know for [livejournal.com profile] red_day_dawning

It's Her Birthday for [livejournal.com profile] adafrog

Better than Mushrooms for [livejournal.com profile] chocolate_frapp

Fond Memories of a Barrel-rider for [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat

Have fun, my friends, and don't forget to review! *g*

Oh, and here is a selection of cakes until I can post a photo of the actual birthday cake, which hasn't been cut yet. Virtual calories are for the win!

And for those who prefer some salty goodness, here are little buns and spicy pastries:

Enjoy!

And - last but not least - today's coffee table with the chessboard cake:

Happy birthday, my dear. Many happy returns and all the best for the year to come!
Thanks so much for my hobbit birthday present - it was delightfully hilarious.

You must admit that the prompt was very suggestive. ;))
Thanks for the good wishes, we can all use better times to come. How are things in your corner of the world?

Face masks and no contact closer than 1.5 metres. Gatherings no larger than 5 people. Curfew set at 10 o’clock, unless you have work permits/compassionate/caregiving etc. No travel greater than 5km. It has been going on for so long, it’s all routine now. I’m grateful we have a sensible government when it comes to public health.
How are you enjoying your day? And how how things with you?

The situation isn't promising, but we try our best to stay safe. I even stay out on choir practice, whicn is hard, ad I miss it very much, but better safe than sorry.

Chel out the Hungarian entry coming up next, there's even more savoury party food. Some of my RL friends don't have the sweet tooth, either. ;)

While I'm waiting, I'll take a spicy pastry to go with my glass of wine.
The young ladies (the elder of whom will turn 30 next week...) are doing fine. They've both bought their own appartmen and will move in soon.
How's your mother? Wish her the best from me.

Thank you, I will. She's doing well, thank God, save for the small everyday problems (Wehwehchen, as the Germans would put it) that come with being nearly 89.

Cake pic is going up in approximately 5 minutes!

The only thing messier than making them is eating them.

Sometimes a little mess is good in one's life. Just a little bit, though.

Happy Birthday, may it be the start of a very good year!

And I'll have a little bite of everything. It may take me a while though :)

The checkerboard cake turned out well. Was it as easy as promised?

Happy Birthday! I hope you are having a most lovely day!

We just got unpacked from being gone for the week, and I'm so glad I saw your post!
We are home for one day, tomorrow, then are off again for three days. So I'm looking forward to the stories!
The party treats and the goodies in your other post look delicious!

Lots of fun, as the leaves are turning and we've been enjoying it to the hilt. Lots of hiking and making the most of the last few weeks before it's time to close our camping trailer for the winter!

Happy birthday! Hope the party was fun as ever, and that the next year is less stressful than this one!

Sorry this is late - no real excuse just this year and everything being chaos.

I'm back for seconds, is there anything left?

We have a few days of warm weather right now, so we've been sitting in the yard in the afternoons. The first leaves are starting to come down, though we won't get real color in our area till next week. We're thinking of a picnic in the big state park nearby next week if the weather holds. There's a series of small lakes, and it's not crowded during the week.

I hope you'll enjoy your picnic. I guess it will be good to get out of the house for a change. I'm not fond of the outdoors myself, but I'm a weird one anyway.
