So, my iPad mini decided today that it doesn't want to access the Internet. Just like that. Ten minutes earlier it was all right, I could check some canon facts with for my story, but when I wanted to check something next, the thing refused to cooperate.

At first I thought it was a server problem. So I switched on the desktop PC, and the Internet worked like a charm. Then I thought perhaps it was something with the rooter, so I restarted it, but the iPad still refused to connect to the internet. So I admitted being beaten by it and took it to my neighbour, the IT guy, in the hope he'll find the time to do something about it. He's managed to do the same once, a couple of years ago, so I'm still hoping. The problem is, he's very busy, therefore it's unknown when he'll get to my rebellious piece of technology.

Yes, I know one can live with a desktop PC only. I've done so for quite some time. But one gets used to the quick and comfortable ways a tablet offers when taking photos, checking facts and e-mails and stuff. I guess I'm terribly spoiled. *sigh*

Thanks. It would be nice. It is more than 5 years old, but I'm used to it; and it's very practical for quick fact-checking and taking photos.

good thing your neighbor was available! My former roomie might be able to solve my problems with hulu but he can't come over because of covid travel restrictions and he can't fix it over the phone. (The problem with hulu may be on their end anyway, youtube and netflix work fine.)

My neighbour is a good guy; alas, he's also very busy. Let's hope I'll see my iPad soon.

So do I, honestly. What good does it do to me to take photos with the iPad if I can't upload them or send to my main PC?

I hear you. I have a desktop computer but I love sitting in my comfy recliner, with my laptop. It's much more convenient.

My laptop is practically a relic by now. It can only work - very slowly and reluctantly - if it's plugged in, but I do like it nonetheless.

We do get used to the convenience. We have a desktop, but I mostly use the baby notebook in the lounge.

I understand most computers, and can usually fix what ails them. But, a cell phone is another matter. Not sure why, they are computers also. But, I've only had mine for 3 years and now, it won't hold a charge. If I unplug it from the charger, it lasts all of 30 seconds before it shuts down. So annoying. They sell new (old) batteries for pennies, but they are bootleg, and you have to take the phone apart to put them in, which involves heat guns and playing cards and tricky pull a-parts ,etc. plus a lot of praying this and that doesn't break. And on top of that, a lot of the reviews say the new (or rather old replacement) doesn't last. So, I guess it is time for a new phone. My old one is a Huawei, which I really like, but due to the China/US trade squabbles, I can't buy a new Huawei in the states, nor will it work with Google apps, if I could. I've looked at all the moderate priced phones available for purchase and am not impressed with any of them. On top of that, only certain ones, the worst of the batch, will work with my cell phone plan. I hate spending money on an item that I don't like. But, hard to live without a phone - sigh.
