All right, folks, I've promised you pictures of the other drawstring bags, right? I wanted to finish them first, but my friend Evie couldn't hop over with the actual drawstrings this week, so I thought I'd show the little bags as they are. Imagine that they have the drawstrings already. *g*

Then I decided to give Mary Berry's cherry cake a try. I'm quite content with the outcome, even though I only had one 100gr-box of glacé cherries instead of the required 200gr. You hardly ever get them here, this last box was from our latest visit to Vienna almost a year ago. But I simply cut them into smaller pieces to get them everywhere in the cake.

Sorry for the slightly blurred image, illumination wasn't ideal, and perhaps this brown glass cake holder wasn't the best thing to put the cake on, for the lack of contrast. But it's a family heirloom (belonged to my great-grandmother) and I wanted to use it once again.
At least the cake is very yummy, and it looks a lot better in real life, I swear.

This is the original recipe, BTW:

And now I'm going to put up the next chapter of "Magic Mirror" to AO3. I really must get my lazy rear in gear and write more before I'd run out of the already written chapters. I miss [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo and the inspiration already.

Hey, yummy counts for a lot. And I think you did a great job on it and the bags!

Thanks. The bags were a fun project, and a yummy cake for the weekend is always good. ;)

Thank you! :)
The bags were actually an awful lot of work, as I made anything but the hidden inner sewing by hand, but I'm quite pleased with how they turned out.

They aren't my favourites, either. But this recipe requires them to be washed, so you can get rid of the horribly sticky syrup, and that is good.

The cake looks very good to eat. I love the little blue bag. There's just something about white polka dots on blue that always grabs me. You stitching is very neat.

Not as neat as I would like it to be, but this is the best I can do. My favourite is the red one, ad I generally don't like blue.

The cake is really beautiful, and I love the bags, they look like pockets :0)

They are not much larger than a pocket, TBH. :))
