I've just added Merlin to the fantasy section of the Otherworlds discussion board, posting my three so-far existing Merlin vignettes as well. Registrations to the forum have been disabled for quite some time because certain idiots felt the urge to post their disgusting porn and other spam, and I simply didn't have the time to manually remove all that rubbish all the time.

I'm not sure I should enable registrations and allow guest posts again. But if someone wants to join and post their stuff there, contact me privately. We can enable registrations for short periods again - and I'd really love to have more people and more discussions over there. The forums are PG-13 by default (not my choice, it's what Otherworlds is), but even within those restrictions, lots of things would be possible.

Hey, Trekkies who read this! Come and discuss the Borg with me on the Otherworlds board and vote in my Great Borg Poll.

Aside from the fun, it's also serves the good purpose of creating my own special version of the Borg, later on in the "Alternate Voyager" series and/or other Trek stuff.

Come and play with the mean little machines!

Edit: I'm afraid you need to be a board member to vote, but you can comment without joining the board.

... and I can't say that I'm devastated about it. If you'd like to discuss the show, come here:

Eventually, when I've finished my Voyager essay, I'll write one about Enterprise as well. The above link only leads to a few random thoughts about the show. I watched Damage today and was rendered brain-dead again by the lameness of it.

... has been posted to the Otherworlds board. This part discusses the wasted adversaries, aka: the Borg, Species 8472 and the Hirogen. Ithilwen, I hope you don't mind that I quoted you. With due credit given, of course.

Stuff's here:

Have fun!

I've started a series of essays about sci-fi shows I had high hopes for but got very disappointed with. The first part of the Voyager essay has just been posted to the Otherworlds board:

The forum in the public area, so everyone can read and/or comment it, without the need to register, although you are welcome to do so, too. *g* I just hope for a little Trekker discussion.

Other essays planned are about Andromeda and Enterprise. We'll see what else comes up, especially with Stargate - Atlantis hitting German Tv on February 23. I can't wait. *rubs hands in expectation*

The board now has a Fanfic discussions category, with forums for reading recommendations, general discussion about writings and the likes. Plus, I've made The Lórien Soap Opera awailable for reading for guests, while still only members can play.

Other than that, after a long and thorough search, I got lucky today. I finally found a battered copy of Nicholas Nickleby by Dickens. I used to love that book a great deal in my teen years, and I'm so very happy that now I'll be able to read it in original.

But first, I want to finish Life in a Medieval City, which the most generous Archet gifted upon me for Xmas. It's an excellent book - historically correct, with just as much data as my poor, tender head can hold. Dratted EU! Amazon has other, similar works of the same authors on sale, but we won't have the Euro until three more years! Ah, well, there's always online research - reading is just easier on the eyes and can be done while riding the bus...

We got the new curriculum for next term. Mine is rather discouraging. I'll have to stay at school until 1400 each day, save Thursday, when I'm in until 1500. I do have free hours in-between, and I've had a lot worse, to be honest. But it was sooooo nice to come home at 1100 every Friday. Well, I knew I won't get so lucky ever again.
