This was actually yesterday's entry but the internet died on me in the moment I tried to post it. Fortunately, LJ saves drafts, so I can post it now. I doubt I'd have been able to recreate it from my head only. *sigh*

Since I've got other plans for tomorrw (and since weather forecast threatened us with storms), I decided to go a-hunting today. As I wanted to stole a glance into the closest two shops where I might find some craft supplies, I went after hag time (=after 12:00).

The promised rain came a day earlier, but only two short showers, one before I'd leave and the other one while I was in the supermarket, so I got home in the same dry state as I left. I got some general craft glue at Kik for half the price craft shops would sell something similar and a set of small half-pearl stickers in various colours for an equally moderate price. Yay!

Then I entered the supermarket, heading directly to their fairly small creative corner.
And I found this:

And this:

And also this:

It is a good thing that I'm absolutely useless at the high art of internet shopping, or else we couldn't enter the flat due to all that beautiful craft paper and I'd be broke by now.

Less delightful events and some whining behind the cut.

My lower back was particularly belligerent today. It doesn't like shopping days, for some reason; although I even made the sacrifice of boarding a (low-floor) tram to spare it the jarring. The pain is somewhere on the right side near my backbone, and while it only lasts a few seconds, it is not a pleasant feeling. For these few seconds I feel like I've lost all strength in that area and can't even attempt to move. I know it will go away on its own eventually (it's always done in the last 24 years, so let's hope that won't change), but it always takes so bloody long! It's been with me for some two months this time. Grrrr!

After I've made up lunch from some leftover Käsespätzle and impromptu carbonara sauce, I rested a bit, talked on the phone to two lovely colleagues and fell asleep in front of the telly. Even though it was one of those zoo reports I love to watch. For the Germans among us, right now it's Panda, Gorilla & Co. I'm watching on NDR, but I love just about every incarnation of the series.

Then, around 6pm, I decided that it was time to go online and connect to you, lovely people. Well... the Internet was down. For three frigging hours! I called the company (Vodafone, that has recently swallowed UPC, and since then there are problems). Their automated message told me that they're aware of the problem and working on it. Offered me to send an SMS with the progress report if I wanted. I did not. I wanted my Internet back!

Well, as you can see, I'm back online again, thank goodness, and even used the "cold turkey" time to transcribe some new stuff I wrote for my vampire crossover story, so it wasn't totally wasted. Still, one only realizes how much one has become addicted to the Internet when it gets taken away. Even if only temporarily.

Sounds like you have a pinched nerve back there. I'd actually get it seen to as soon as possible - take it from someone who had to have two back surgeries because she put it off so long...

Yeah, I know. I just hope it will unpinch itself again, as it's done every time in the recent 24 or so years. Because subjecting myself to the Hungarian health system right now would be suicidal.

Ugh ... no internet sucks.
On the other hand ... it shows how addicted one is ... *lol*

They are very pretty papers - no wonder you couldn't resist. Do you have a shopping trolley to help getting your shopping home?

And yes - our internet going down for five minutes has my husband biting his nails - three hours and he would either be climbing the walls or have gone to sleep!

That was what I did, too - went to sleep, after the internet went down again, after having only worked for half an hour or so. I don't know when did they get the problem fixed.

And no, I don't have a shopping trolley. Our building so "intelligently" constructed that you need to climb 14 streps to reach the lift in the first place. Having a full shopping trolley to drag up those 14 steps would be very bad for my back. At least I know that I can carry what fits into my bag without serious problems. Most of the time anyway...

Sorry about your back. :(

Don't you hate it when your store has so many cool things you don't need? lol

Yay internets!

I have been lost over the past few days, with my limited internet access. At any other time it would not be too big a sacrifice, as I had friends to visit and shops to wander around but, of course, that is not an option at present.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The internet really does connect one to people one would never meet otherwise. Like the two of us. :))

I love that your supermarket has a little creative corner. Such beautiful papers! Lucky you!

When you talk about shopping and lugging bags, I am always reminded of my college days, when I walked everywhere, and whatever food I bought had to fit into my backpack and one other bag so I could lug it home. One advantage to having to carry the goods home is that one can't over-buy:)

Your poor back. Have you tried lying on the floor and raising your knees, to flatten the backbone and (hopefully) ease the pressure? And sit-ups, to strengthen your back? I suspect you have tried many things like this already because it's been happening for so long. When the time comes when you can see your doctor, I hope you'll find relief!

I won't give myself into the hand of doctors as long as I can avoid it. I've been mostly pain free for the last two days (only one small, fairly mild tingle so far), so I hope it's getting itself unpinched. *fingers crossed*

Sorry to hear about your back, nothing worse than back pain! I'm totally lost, bored, and anxious when the internet goes out, glad that yours is back. The papers you bought are lovely, wish my supermarket had such items. They have school supplies, but nothing related to crafting except glue, scissors, that type of stuff.

Yeah, Auchan is very good at offering a wide variety of things. This tiny creative corner of theirs is only a couple of years old, but I'm grateful for it. It helped a lot when all other shops were closed.

Can you get physical therapy or something for your lower back?

Oh, it usually goes away on its own, sooner or later. Unfortunately, this seems to be the later version right now.
