But hunting days rarely are. I went to various food shops in the early morning because we've run out of milk and bread and other such stuff. My back was acting up today, more than in the two or three days before; perhaps it no longer likes when I'm hauling bags around. Tough. I can't avoid it.

Then I cooked dinner - well, actually I cooked soup. That turkey ragout soup with mushrooms and estragon Mum likes so much. We still had some leftover asparagus risotto, and I even bought a tin of Radler for afters.

Service guy came today with the repaired tv remote. Mum didn't hear the actual price well and gave him a seriously oversized tip. But the sad truth is that we need him, and he always comes running at the first phone call, so it's all right. Next time Mum will listen better. Or ask again. It was a pricely affair to begin with.

Also, one of our young colleagues marries tomorrow - in a small family circle; the real ceremony will be held when the virus finally goes away - and we decided to put together some money as a wedding gift because what is it young families need most? Righ. Cash. But I'm also making a wedding card to go with it, using this card as the front:

I'll glue it onto a double card, with a nice citation in the inside (courtesy of E. who's a literature teacher and a librarian) and an empty sheet facing it, where everyone can sign the card. I'll have to finish it during the weekend as I'm meeting E. on Tuesday to deliver it. I'll put up a pic of the finished card later.

So, that was my day. And now I'm tired and will watch some crap telly to relax.

Some days shopping is a drag, especially when you're forced to hunt for necessities theses days and never know if you're going to find what you need. Takes all the fun out of it, then add an aching back to the mix:(

Your soup sounds great. I love soup, and made chicken veg soup today for lunch,

Your TV service guy must have loved your mum's accidentally over-sized tip! Hee! I've done that - misread the bill and over tipped. I am a regular over tipped in restaurants, because here, staff wages are below minimum wage, and waiting on people is a really hard job to work for tips. I worked in a restaurant for 10 years.

The wedding card you're making sounds lovely. The card front you made is perfect!

Thank you. It's a lucky coincidence, honestly; this was one of the "patchwork" cards I made to use up some of my scrap paper, in the hope that they'll be good for something, eventually. And I was right!

Yeah, I miss the times when I just walked about and popped into this shop and that shop and generally just had a good time browsing (and usually not buying much). For one thing working was very useful, too: on my way back I could just drop into the food shop and pick up what I needed. I didn't have to plan like some military strategist before going out to see how can I squeeze everything into the two hours I had at my disposal - and haul the stuff home in several turns without ruining my back completely. *sigh*
