Ookay, the week started much like the previous one had ended: with the remote control to my TV dying on me. At first I thought it was the batteries, so I changed them - to no end. It randomly obeys, one time out of then, but that's all. Now I have to get up and push some buttons every time I want to switch channels or change the volume. It's a good thing that my quarter-century-old analog telly still has buttons, or I'd be lost. But it's still annoying. I don't know where to find a new remote. Will have to call the service guy, assuming he's still alive (he's older than I) and still working. Bleh.

Also, the insurance lady was here for a quick signing of the contract. She didn't want to come in, because of Mum (which was considerate of her), so we spent half an hour or so in the staircase while she communicated with the company, photographed important documents and the other inhabitants passing by looked at us as if we were complete morons. But the contract is fixed now, or so I hope. *fingers crossed*

The only somewhat pleasant event of the day was the fact that I actually made my very own face mask - free hand, with only a needle and a pair of scissors at my aid. It's extremely uneven, as I messed up the measures (I do that regularly), but I think it looks funny. Plus, it has double lining for better protection.

Here, see and laugh:

The horrid fabric has been lying around for years; it was part of a sale package I bought because of the other samples and I refused to use it for anything. I sincerely hope that the coronavirus will flee in terror when encountering it. *g*

That would be a really sucky situation if you had one of those TVs that won't work without a remote like I have.

Meh @ the remote. Hopefully it can be repaired.

I think that's a fun fabric actually.

I intend to wear that mask tomorrow when I go to school to fetch the eggs I've ordered. My poor colleagues need something to laugh at - the few that might be there for the same reason.

Yeah, Mum has one of those flatscreen ones that only work with a remote. But at least these newer remotes are easier to replace. Mine is more than 26 years old and has always been... temperamental a bit.

I needed a new remote for my DVD player and was able to order one online from eBay. Problem is there has been such a delay in mail delivery that I've been waiting a few weeks for it to arrive.

I like that mask! It's very distinctive!

Thank you. I still find it ridiculous but will wear it nonetheless, if only to make people laugh when they see it. We all can use a good laugh in these days.

Lol. Your mask is cute! I've got to the stage where my fabric scraps are too small to make a mask, so I've started piecing them.

I am sure the viruses run for cover when they see it. In the meanwhile I have come to the fourth and last week of proving theoretically that I have practical knowledge, as absurd as it sounds. I hope we will be able to go ti school next week do prove we are able to do things that are needed.

We have to use the meagre means at our disposal, don't we?

Not so much patches as stripes. I have used patterned fabric in the middle panel and made the wings of the mask from plain white. (I'm using the olson mask pattern.)

Heheh, love the mask! I believe they sell generic remotes that can be programmed to work with most TV's, believe that is what we used for our analog ones when we lost the original remotes. But, I am probably not the best to give advise.

Yeah, but generic remotes need to be programmed, which I can't do!

Has the remote problem been resolved in the meantime? If not, you could check for it online or maybe get a universal one.

That mask is cute. :-)

Just a bit uncomfortable to wear...
The remote has been fixed in the meantime, thanks, even though Mum managed to accidentally overtip the guy who fixed it.
