wiseheartWhile playing solitaire games online, there are the oddest ads when one starts a new game. In one of those ads a lady (I think a journalist or whatnot) is speaking about writing, and there is a sentence that hit home strongly. She says:
The problem with your writing isn't your lack of talent; it's the people who keep interrupting you.
I could never have put it so well, but yeah, it is the honest truth. I love Mum to pieces, but she has absolutely no sense when not to interrupt me with some mundane sh*t, no matter if I'm writing or translating. She just comes in, blurts out what's on her mind, and my concentration is broken for good. Fortunately, I've got used to these interruptions and learned how to find back to my mindset - well, most of the time - but it would be lovely not to be interrupted when I'm trying to put a sentence together in a way that would tell a potential reader exactly what I want to tell. And that in a third language, too!
Not that I'd have many readers (understatement of the Age here), but I feel responsible to deliver the best I can... if people only let me!
