We've taken some calculated risk today by having the chiropodist lady come to us. But it was necessary. She hasn't been here since early February, and our feet were in a desolate condition. Especially poor Mum's; it's a good thing she hasn't left the house for over three weeks because she wouldn't be able to put on any shoes. I also had some problems during the last two weeks or so.

I hope it wasn't a mistake. We've known this lady for over a decade and she is reliable, so there's that. Not to mention that one doesn't know how long this situation will last (they speak about at least a month or two still to come), and if I had to take Mum to surgery because of in-grown and infected toenails that would be even worse. Assuming that there was any surgery willing to take a look.

So, fingers crossed that all will be continuing to go well. At least we feel tons better now that our feet has been brought up to working order again.

Yeah, looks like you didn't have much of a choice. Hopefully it will be okay. We all gotta take some calculated risks right now since it's such a long-term situation.

Besides, you've got to walk to all these supermarkets, you need your feet in working order.

For me, tomorrow is the next supermarket trip. I hope it's not too close to Easter already, and I will be spared the worst crowds.

I know what you mean. My trip will be on Wednesday. Once in aller Herrgottsfrühe, as I'm not old enough to do the shopping during "senior time", aka 9-12, and once around noon, to the bio shop, for the same reason. After which I'll swing by at school and fetch my 30 eggsies I've ordered last week. Alas, for school I'll have to take the bus, as five stops are definitely beyond the distance I could carry the stuff without collapsing half-way and making an enormous omelett out of them on the hot concrete gangways.

Oh man, yeah, that's too much walking when you are carrying bags!

We don't have senior hours here so I'm planning to go early. Hoping I get flour and reasonably priced eggs since I'd like to do some more baking for Easter. I've used up my built-up stash between eggnog and several cakes for us and neighbor friends.

Definitely a cake and some cookies for my father, since he can't visit for Easter. Probably a plain Rührkuchen since that survives being mailed best.

Otherwise I don't know yet, I've been meaning to do a Hefezopf for a while now, so maybe that?

I was considering a Hefezopf myself, but since I can't get fresh yeast anywhere I've given up on that. Some things just aren't the same with instant yeast - not that I could find that anywhere, either. But I still have a few packages in stock.

I'm gonna make a Spiegeleikuchen for the feast itself, but other than that I'm mostly done with Easter baking. It isn't fun if you can't distribute the stuff among friends and colleagues.

I'm gonna try it with instant yeast, I haven't used any of that stash since Corona hit since I had been low on flour until recently. So I figure I might as well. Getting fresh yeast would be nice of course but I don't have much hope...

Nah, it's impossible to get here, too. Well... I've been unlucky so far. I know of some people who've managed to snatch a few cubes, but I wasn't among them. *sigh*

A friend of mine was able to get it as well but... That's some extra luck. I'll be content enough if I can get all the necessities without having to resort to expensive brands.

Yeah, not everyone is as lucky as I am in this area, having an Auchan supermarket, two Aldi markets and a Lidl within easy reach.

Absolutely! I did some amateurish work on my own toes during these weeks, but it was far from the professional trimming a chiropodist can do; besides, I could never do Mum's, as hers are a fairly special case.

If you need to clear dead skin to get access to the nails, maybe try some exfoliating socks? (2https://www.marieclaire.co.uk/beauty/skincare/exfoliating-socks-525715") Some of my chums have been trying them and been impressed, and it's something you can do at home by yourself.

Nah, it's just so that basically neither of us is limber enough and sees well enough to do it by our own. Especially where ingrowing nails are concerned.

Our chiropodist has stopped working for the duration - I can mainly cope myself - and S2C thinks he can reach his feet since he lost a little weight - although I'm not sure about that!

Amen. Now the only nőn-vírus-related thing left to worry about is if I will have lost two of my molars due to natural erosion by the time my dentist opens her practice again.

Well, the shop in which she used to work closed years ago and this was the only way for her to keep her customers. It is a comfortable thing for us, of course.
