I got this beautiful planner from Mum for my last birthday: hard-cover, decorated with sapphire flowers in high relief, great inner structure for notes and all that. I started writing in thing very dutifully - actually just because I enjoyed the little thing so much. Well... for the last two months I had to strike out almost everything that stood in there. :(

But I still love my planner, so I decided to put it to another use: one that will cheer me up. So, as of last Monday, I started writing down the names of persons I spoke on the phone to on that day or exchanged e-mails with. And it does cheer me up to turn the leaves and see that I still have a social life! A young (ex-)colleague even sent me a copy of the sonogram of her unborn baby, and I keep sending her baking recipes. We'd never have done that before.

Take that, stupid coronavirus!

Also, I started my Easter baking today, with the Nutella bunnies (photo coming up later). I won't make the usual baking orgy this year: just the coconut lambs and the Spiegeleikuchen are still to go. That will be more than enough for the two of us.

My past-[livejournal.com profile] picowrimo resolution is to do at least some translating each day. Today I'm a bit behind schedule because of the baking - the decorating of the bunnies is time-consuming, even though I kept them fairly simple - but I did translate two pages for the (hopefully) paid job and might still do something for myself.

Other than that, we are fine. I hope so are you, folks. *hygienic virtual hugs to everyone*

It's nice that people are reaching out to each other ... one good thing about this pandemic.

There has to be some good coming out of it, after all.

the only phones calls I get are from my parents and junk callers. So many other people are not getting work but the telemarketer assholes haven't lost work. :(

Usually I am the one to call the colleagues. Poor things work themselves ragged with the distance teaching, they are grateful for a break and to hear a human voice. As I am retired, I have the time.

I'm unemployed so I don't have colleagues. My friends don't answer their phones.

The planner is lovely and you are putting it to good use. The neighborhood here is much more lively since we have been told to shelter in place, people out walking or bike riding, and for the last few days, lovely weather. We go for daily walks and see many more folks than usual. Luckily, they for the most part practice social distancing, although there are a few idiots, we just have to avoid them. Contact these days is either by cell phone or an across the street wave.

Yeah, here, too. Sometimes I stand at the window and watch the single kid in the kindergarten opposite our building. Childcare facilities and schools are generally closed, but when the parents don't have the means to keep the kids home, some exceptions are made. In our school there's a kid whose mother is a single parent and a nurse, so she has no chance but drop off the kid at the school. It must be boring for the poor thing.

That is a very pretty planner! And I like your idea to keep track of your positive contacts.

Considering that I don't even like blue, I've fallen in love with it in record time. ;)
And yeah, I find it important that the isolation remains on the physical level.
