My Earthsea books have arrived! Thank you, Ithilwen!
Now I'm going to have many happy riding hours. :))

Oh, and BTW, we've just made it into the EU. [sarcasm]We are officially part of Europe now. Funny, I thought we have been part of Europe for more than a thousand years. The part which always got stomped over by Mongols, Turks and God know what oder invaders, while we had the high honour to be the puffer zone for Western culture.[/sarcasm]

No, really, I'm glad that they finally realized we aren't some barbarians from the Asian deserts. Took them long enough. I just don't get all that euphoric about it.

I'm glad to hear the books arrived this time! Maybe they're even in readable shape, too.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy them.

Oh, they are just perfect, thank you! I had no idea there was six of them! Only four were ever translated into Hungarian!

I've started the first one already. Am having great fun to find out who the characters actually are - the idiots translated the names, too, and some of which they didn't translate, they changed. So, it's not only a great reading experience, it's a puzzle, too. *g*

Thank you again for a great gift!

I can see translating names like Sparrowhawk, Jasper, and Vetch, which have meanings. But I don't understand why anyone would alter the names which don't, like Ged and Ogion. They're SUPPOSED to sound odd!

They translated Ged into something akin to "Wanderer". And changed Ogion to Oromon for reasons I cannot fathom. They also changed Serret to Cirrüsz, which has no mening in Hungarian, either.
*shakes head*

Still I'm happy that you're a part of the EU now. After all, the EU brings whole nations a little closer, if only through money (but as that's the most important thing for so many people why not use its influence?).
And if nothing else it's a good opportunity for a firm welcome hug, unnecessary as it may be:
*firm hug*
Also I'm happy, too, that you're no barbarian from the Asian deserts but from the plain of Dagorlad. Erm.
Don't do that, Soledad...
No...
Please...
*Plea-hea-hease!*
Ouch!
Well, I think I deserved that! ;)

Earthsea! Yes! I'm so glad they've arrived! You must post and tell us which you think are the most beautiful bits.

I've only read books 1-4 myself, though I own 5 and 6. My pile of books-to-read is so high that you'll probably have read them before I do :)

I'm glad you're in the EU, too. Don't feel patronized - it's lucky to have you!

I regularly read why waiting for the bus, riding the bus and such. Quite a time-saver, and I don't get all worked up when the bus doesn't come. :)

Congratulations, oh former barbarian! (sarcastically too)

Have fun being a European! Oh, wait. You have all your life.

We only 4 Earthsea books down under too. Many, many series of books are not available completely here. It's sad.

I meant to write to congratulate you. Sorry - RL distractions, as you know.

OK, I don't usually do this, but the typo is just too funny to let slide...so, Hungary has long been a puffer zone, eh?

Maybe it took Europe all these centuries to realize you're not barbarians because whatever pipeweed they were smoking while ravaging Hungary affected their minds not a little, and all they remembered were the barbarians east of Hungary they'd beat up the year before....

(edit: buffer zone)

Oooooh, I was being German again, wasn't I?
*laughs*
Actually, puffer zone is German, I think. Dratted languages. Why do they have to be so similar and yet completely different?
