So, I collected my courage today and started the book-bindig project. To give you an idea, I'm in this phase right now:

With the not-so-significant difference that I work with felt, instead of cotton fabric, and do all the sewing by hand, as my tiny 20x20 cm sewing machine would break beyond repair if I tried to push 4-5 layers of hard felt through it.

So far, I've bound 2 pages out of six. But I think I've figured out (again!) how the whole method works, so I hope I'll be able to finish it this week. (The funny thing is, I've already made a book like this half a year ago, but managed to forget how the binding works. Typical.) After that, only the little extras are left, but those I can do one by one while watching telly.

Off now to do some more translating, but I might be back later. There isn't much of a social life outside of LJ for me in these days.

Oh man, pushing through so many layers sounds difficult. I'm guessing it's slow-going work? Good that you can do it while watching TV, though.

Yeah, slow enough. But I'm seeing the silver line on the horizon, so it's okay.

Oh, this is such a cute project! I'll keep the link as my best friend might be interested in doing it, too!

It's an interesting project, for sure, but time-consuming, too.
You can see the individual pages here (https://hu.pinterest.com/ekunster/my-own-felt-work/my-quiet-books/). Of course, they aren't trimmed yet on these pictures.

The finished book will look format-wise like this one:

Only trimmed with pink as it's made for two girls, 4.5 and 2 year olds. The maritime book was made for the 4-year-old son of my goddaugher.

Ooof, that's going to be a major undertaking. Looking forward to seeing the results (eventually!)

The individual - although untrimmed - pages can be seen on my Pinterest board (https://hu.pinterest.com/ekunster/my-own-felt-work/my-quiet-books/). Although I've posted the pictures here, too, as they were done.

Your poor fingers ... don't do too many pages at once, you can't hand over the book soon anyway.

Two pages a day - that's the plan. Today's part is done, so I hope I'll be able to make the rest during the week. It was meant to be an Easter gift, but that will have to wait, I'm afraid.

I'm looking forward to seeing photos of this final phase of the project! Your fingers are going to need a well-deserved break after it's done:)

I know the work you have put into each of the quiet books, but they are so worth it!
