I've promised myself that if I finish the Doll House quiet book this week, I'll be allowed to make another bunny like the one on the left, just in white (and pink). If that isn't proper motivation, I don't know what is.

In other news, I went out into the big, dangerous world together - this time not for food but because we're running out of shampoo, shower gel, paper towels for the kitchen and the likes. Also, I had to go to the pharmacy for some cold medicine; my cold comes and goes in waves all winter every year, and it won't stop just because there is competition. Fortunately, I got everything except aspirin Brausetabletten, so I'm more or less armed against the lesser evil.

It's so annoying; while I rarely pick up germs from other people, the slightest draft is enough for the stupid cold to rear its ugly head again. This year I've been fortunate so far: I only had one strong bout of coughing and sore throat in early January (about two weeks of it) and have been mostly well. Of course, a bit of cough and a sore throat didn't matter before - it's practically a way of life for me every winter. But now one gets easier frightened.

So, we're well cared for all our needs, which means I won't leave the house for another three days or so. Writing and crafting ahead!

Good that you have been able to get everything you needed, aspirin aside. When I did last week's supermarket run, they were out of paper towels here along with the toilet paper and tissues, guess people decided to use them interchangeably if needs must.

And yeah, right now every regular scratchy throat is alarming.

I'm trying to go really early; plus I'm lucky that we have one really big and three medium-sized supermarkets as well as a grocery shop within easy reach. So what I don't get in one, I might get in the other one.

I've got a really good herbal honey - meaning honey with herbs mixed into it - for my poor scratchy throat. It is actually called throat balsam. But I use it sparsely as it would be sheer impossible to get more right now. So interchange it regularly for Strepsils for both to last longer. My throat usually only bothers me in the morning, after getting up, and in the evening. During the day I'm mostly okay, thank God.

We're all becoming paranoid. With the cold weather, my nose runs, and I find myself trying to wipe it as surreptitiously as possible, for fear everyone will start crossing themselves and drive a stake through my heart.

Yeah, having several supermarkets in easy distance is a real life. It's another reason I'm glad to be at Mom's, at my place we only have one small mom and pop store, you need to take a bus nearly half an hour into the city for everything else. Here we have a large supermarket, plus Aldi and an organic food supermarket.

Being stingy with the honey does sound like a good idea. That hadn't even occurred to me, since I like to use Fenchelhonig for cooking as well as for sore throats. Good that it's only in the morning that your throat bothers you, hopefully it will stay that away.

Believe me, I know the feeling. Every time I go from the outside cold into the inside warm (like a shop) I start coughing and people look at me as if I were a mass murderer. It's chronic, I can't help it, but I can't explain it every time to everyone, either.

It's not so bad, really; besides, I had decades to get used to it. It's a remainder of a childhood illness.

I'm quite surprised you did get any cold meds ... they're not to be had here ...

I happened to be the first customer in the pharmacy; got there really early. I got lucky, I guess.

I'm running out of paper towels too, the stores all seem to be out of them.

I went to the grocery today. They were out of most of the items on my list, so I either had to substitute or go without. the usual were out: toilet paper, paper towels, meat, bread and other such staples, but there was not one jar of pickles, really?

Also, why are people stocking up on bottled water? Is there something about the water I don't know?

p.s. love the bunny!
