The first Sunday without going to church

For Mum, I mean. But I joined her watching Mass on the telly. It was celebrated by Archbishop Erdő, and it was a surprisingly beautiful affair: quiet, understated, rooted in the current situation but not weighed down by it. Sometimes the Church manages to surprise me in a positive manner. Still, it was... odd to see the church building empty, save for the Archbishop and his assistants. A church is supposed to be filled with people.

Anyway, afterwards I worked on the binding strips of the Doll House quiet book, in the hope that I'll be able to do the actual binding next week, and I finished typing up the last chapter of "The Sins of the Mothers". Go me! The next tentative plan is to start translating "The Billion Year Voyage", which is the next story in the "Lost Years" series. Also the only one left that's already written, even though in an odd mix of German and Hungarian. The rest of the series is planned out, with bits and pieces of other stories already written, but I thought translating the one that's already finished would be more practical. My current mindset isn't suited for ongoing creative work, and translation is mind-numbing enough to distract me from my worries.

I'm glad your Mom was able to get to watch the Mass on TV, it's definitely the best way to do it right now (and I'm assuming that churches are closed anyway just like they are here.)

You're being very industrious with crafting and writing projects despite everything.

That must be strange to have mass in a church and no people attending.

Actually, the churches are not closed yet, there is just no service, if I'm not mistaken. But I might be wrong.
Crafting is a great way to keep my mind off the whole disaster.

It was very strange indeed. Some five or six people in the whole church... all men, of course. At least they used the old Roman liturgic text (there are 4 such texts in entirety, and the Roman is the oldest), so at least amongst the holy martyrs some women were mentioned.

It is odd, a Sunday without church. I watched most of a service on the BBC - there was a minister and her deacon in the church, we did not see the empty seats, but she introduced some hymns and they were shown being sung by congregations in diferent churches from recordings made over the years.

Sadly they are, I hope, not going to need to use O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, and so they are not likely to ever need the clip that I am on!

Our minister went up and opened the building for anyone who wanted to go in today and read the reading of the day or say a prayer.

The Governor just issued a Stay At Home Order for our state beginning Monday. But, before that he had limited gatherings to no more than 10 people, so our churches were limited to video/TV mass or none.

Frankly, the TV mass was a lot more touching and humane than many of the live ones I had the misfortune to attend in person.
