Today, I had to get Mum's medicine. Due to the situation, as it is called sometimes, the practices are closed, save for absolute emergencies, but you can phone them, and they upload the prescription to the cloud, which the pharmacies can access and give you what has been prescribed. A bit odd, but definitely practical - you only have to expose yourself to all possible infections in the pharmacy, not in the doctor's waiting room.

So I armed myself with a face mask and a pair of gloves (I haven't had on any gloves since my childhood!) and went to fetch the stuff. Aside from me, only one other woman was wearing a mask. The others were all elderly people... and apparently idiots, too. *sigh*

Anyway, on my way home I paid the grocery shop a visit, thinking that I might find yeast (I didn't) and perhaps buying some chicken meat would be practical. There was no chicken meat. At all. There was pork in great quantities, but we rarely eat that. Mum says she saw something on telly that there would be problems with chicken delivery, but she didn't remember what exactly caused it. Ah, well, they'll eventually arrive.

Since I watched the finals of the German baking contest, I felt like baking something myself, so I made this:

It is, basically, Grandma's idiot proof sponge cake, baked in a tart form, topped with apple-cinnamon flavoured pudding, fresh fruit and jelly. Yum!

And then, since I felt full of determination today, I've also finished the bunny boxes on which I've been working for some time. They're meant to be Easter gifts for my main choir, regardless when we'll be able to meet again.

Cute, aren't they? They're also filled with candy.

And now I'm going to work on that never-ending transcription job.

I did worry about that and have decided to just use reusable wash cloths which can be laundered every night. Paper napkins just seem so wrong and they can be used instead of paper towels and facial tissue.

I wish we had bidets here like they do in Europe.

We don't have them, either. I wish we did. In fact, I've never seen them east of France, but perhaps I visited the wrong places.
