As decided yesterday, I stayed indoors today. Doing so isn't a particular hardness for me; I actually like being home. It also gave me the chance to finally clean out the floor of the built-in garderobes in our anteroom, which was slightly overdue. I caught up a bit with my crafting and transcribing and had long phone chats with two colleagues.

According to official sources, we now have some 50 infected people, two of them healed, one dead. Churches will close, no services on Sunday, shops - save for grocery shops, pharmacies and tobacco shops (addicts need to be satisfied, after all) will be closed after 3pm. I'm fine with that. As long as we can get the basic necessities, we can hold out. It's still better (at least right now) than what used to be the norm in my childhood in Transylvania.

I'll try to put all this free time to good use.

I'm not in any of the total isolation categories here, but am staying in as much as possible. Sam is still out to work 1-2 days (working from home in between). We have food and supplies. Lancaster isn't hit yet as far as anyone is saying, so still in the calm before the storm. Although being in the UK is weird, as the government seems to be doing a different thing to the rest of the world, so officially most things are still open, but lots of shops are closing on their own accord.

Good luck with more writing and crafting with fewer distractions.

Well, you are free to be sane and protect yourself, regardless what the government is doing, right? *g*

As long as the grocery stores and pharmacies are open, you should be okay. That's how it is here, too. I need to get outdoors for a walk each day now or I'll go stir crazy.
Good luck.

Being indoors for a couple of days doesn't bother me; after that, yeah, I have to go out for a bit, too. But since I'll need to go to the grocery stores, that will happen anyway.

Good luck for you as well.

Lord Elrond's healing skills would come in handy right now, wouldn't they?

Yep, I was born there. We moved to Hungary proper in 1965, when I was only 9 years old.

Tobacco shops are open? Really???

It's the same here ... everything not essential is closed. So far restaurants can still open until 6 p.m. but I think they'll change that as well.

I think they didn't want the smokers to attack and pillage the tobacco shops. Since in a spectacular bout of nepotism our glorious government forbade all supermarkets and grocery shops to sell cigarettes an other such stuff, and only the selected few who got special permission to run the tobacco shops have been allowed to do so ever since...

Ah okay ... here you can still buy cigarettes etc. in supermarkets.
