My versions are sitting on little cork plates originally meant to be put under wine or water glasses. I painted them with acrylic paint and the champagne corks with watercolour (because I didn't have white acrylic paint), added the bow ties and the eyes and decorated the whole thing with a felt flower, each. The bunny eggs are simply thick paper, and the little nests I pilfered from a box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates and filled with candy. *g*

Watercolour isn't the right stuff for cork, so if I ever make anything like this again I'll have to buy a pot of white acrylic paint, I'm afraid.

On a different creative front, I improvised a baked wreath with blueberry jam and walnut filling today. Everything that saves me the necessity of putting on outside clothes and go to the grocer's. Even if it takes the whole morning. The wreath wasn't pretty, but it was yummy, so I think I did well enough.

On less joyful news, Mum's second-oldest friend died a few days ago. She has now only one friend left from her own generation. For the old lady it was a relief, I think, she was bed-ridden and in an eldercare facility where she had to share the room with three other patients, but for Mum it is a great loss. They had known each other since 1967, went to college together (evening school version) and even worked together for years. So she's rather sad at the moment.

Thank you. It wasn't unexpected, but still, she was part of Mum's life for so long that it's hard to cope. Mum's a fighter, though, she's accepted the inevitable. She's just sad.

I'm sorry to hear your mum lost another friend ... it's somehow sad when you're the last one ...

The bunnies turned out nice enough imo. :-)

Save for the dratted watercolour already peeling off the cork, yeah. Next time I'll know better.

And yeah, it's hard for Mum. In the family, she's been the last of her generation ever since her brother died quite a few years ago. Now she only had one good friend left. There are a few of her school mates still alive, but she doesn't have such a regular contact with them.

The bunnies turned out great! Love the idea of the "plate" to make an Easter scene. So sorry to hear about your Mum's friend.

Yeah, it is sad, though not entirely unexpected at the age of nearly 90.

She's coping well enough, thanks. It's not as if we haven't expected it. When old people get the feeling that they have no way out of a hopeless situation they simply give up and die, as the will to live isn't there anymore.

I'm sorry about your mom's friend. I think you're right, tho. Bedridden in a room of four does not sound appealing. I hope your mom is taking it ok.

Mum is a tough cookie. She's a little sad, understandably enough, but she's taking it well enough.

Yeah, it's sad that she keeps losing them, but that's life. She's a tough cookie, she can deal with it, even if it makes her understandably sad.
