So, Mum turned 88 today, and we had great fun celebrating that fact - just the two of us.

This is her birthday cake, with the candles still unlit:

And this is the same cake, with the candles lit:

We also shared a bottle of cider (all 300 mls of it), and she'll get her prezzie on Saturday, when I take her to the charity ball. She knows many of my colleagues, who like her a lot, so she'll have enough people to chat with her, there'll be food and champagne, and tomorrow we'll go to the hairdresser's to have her made beautiful.

Other than that I had choir practice with the Oldies in the morning and made more felt eggs. No writing happened, and I didn't work on the doll house quiet book, either.

Current egg count: 20/40. Go me!

Thank you. The phone has run hot all day - she has the uncanny gift to make friends and keep them (unlike me). She's having fun and yes, the cake is yummy. *g*

Not yet, it has the size of a cartwheel - even with the help of friendly neighbours, we still have one-third of it. Not for long, though...
