Post-Christmas lethargy
Dec. 27th, 2019 09:42 pmNow that all holiday-related excitements are over I feel like someone who got hit over the head. I didn't do anything particular for two days... well, save for cooking lunch yesterday (*note to self, one must thaw out Kabeljaufilet completely next time, or I'll end up with the same rather unappealing consistency) and taking Mum out for a walk today.
We went to one of the nearby plazas, where I wanted to visit the craft shop and had cappuccino in one of the newly opened cafés. It was somewhat more expensive than what I usually find reasonable, but the environment was lovely and the staff very, very friendly. We might go back there again.
Afterwards, we wanted to have lunch in our favourite eatery, but it was closed. Not closed for good, just closed for the day. As they aren't opened on weekends, and there was the three-day-holiday before, I assume opening up for a single day didn't really make sense for them. Which I can understand, but it was still an unpleasant surprise. So we came home, ate leftover cauliflower soup and leftover cheesecake.
I tried to do some basic work on the Russian dolls that are due on February 1, for our benefice ball (it has a Russian ground theme). There's time for making them, true, but it is detailled work, and I have to make some 30 or more pieces, so I thought I'd start early. I was beginning to hope that I might manage to glue on all the 3x30 heads today, when the lady from the neighbourhood came over for a visit. We knew she'd come, she usually does on this day, but the visit, although a relatively nice one, took more than two hours, which turned my working schedule upside down. I tried to continue working after she left, but she is - while generally friendly and very helpful - a bit exhausting in the long run, so I just collapsed on the bed and watched Dr. Pimple Popper. Yes, I know my taste in TV is horrible.
I actually planned to finally do some writing tomorrow, but I fear I'll be gluing on paper doll heads instead. It's a bit frustrating that I haven't written a single word since the last days of the November
picowrimo season. I hoped I wouldn't end the year like that... :((

Date: 2019-12-27 10:37 pm (UTC)That's the boring, monotone part of it, which will be over as soon as the heads are glued on, preferably tomorrow. Then comes the creative part - matching the colours, the decorative items and the likes. Then comes another boring, monotone part: cutting out the aprons and the headdresses and gluing them on. Yeah, it will definitely take me all January to get them done. But at least paper work is easier on the fingers than felt work.
