Not to be immodest, but I dare to say that it turned out fantastic. I made a Christmas version, with stars instead of random patches, and I'm very, very happy with the outcome.

I also finished the last batch of Santa's socks. Alas, once again the colours aren't true, the dark ones are actually grey, and the green one has a little copper heart in the middle of the felt heart, but this is as close as my iPad mini could come to reality.

They only need to be filled, then they can join their comrades on the Christmas tree.

In other news, the balcony was defeated by several days of steady rain and we have a leak again. Fortunately, we're having strong winds at the moment, and the leak is drying up already, but we need to do something about it, sooner rather than later. This time it is the other side, and there we at least have an idea where the water is coming in and might be able to get it fixed. *fingers crossed*

I got a wonderful Christmas present from the most generous [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris: The Hobbit Sketchbook by Alan Lee - and a signed first edition at that! Yay! It will be on display under the tree, for sure. The lovely Christmas cards of [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted, [livejournal.com profile] lindahoyland, [livejournal.com profile] meathiel and the samesome [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris are displayed on the bookshelf opposite my desk.

Thank you, ladies! Seeing them comforts me for the fact that the steadily ringing phone always means a call for Mum, wishing her a happy Christmas and a blessed Namenstag. My so-called friends can't be arsed to do the same, and I'm getting tired of always being the one to go after them. Thank God for the internet and online friends who turn out be friends. *hugs you all*

Beautiful cake. It looks delicious! The Alan Lee book sounds wonderful; I love his Tolkien illustrations. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
I had my family Christmas dinner on Sunday. I’m so relieved that my Christmas responsibilities are finished for the year. The dinner was wonderful, with my mother, siblings, nieces and children. Even my mum seemed to enjoy herself!

I'm glad to hear that you had such a great time. Mum and I are very much looking forward to a quiet, twosome Christmas. Of course, I have no siblings and her only brother died years ago, so we don't have much in the way of family.
