Family outing
Dec. 19th, 2019 09:07 pmWeather forecast promised the last moderately sunny day for today, so Mum and I decided to go back to the Christmas market, and we had a grand old time indeed!
What we didn't see, unfortunately, was this:

This is the Christmas tram that runs at certain times in certain areas of the city. It's been done for years, but I only saw it twice, and once I even travelled on it - not this year, though. But the inner city was really amazing, with the trees wrapped in Christmas lights and huge objects, built entirely of the same lights hanging from above and stuff. We enjoyed the sight immensely.
But first we went to check out the new Lindt Chocolate Shop at Fashion Street. There was a huge counter, where you could grab a cellophane bag and make your own collection of differently flavoured chocolate balls; then you went to the cashier who weighed it, and you paid depending on the weight:

Our moderate bag only weighed 300 grams. We won't mention the price. The chocolate will go into the crystal bowl - celebrity guests deserve special places.
As usual, there were all kinds of artisans offering their products.
Pottery:

Marzipan desserts with different flavours and fillings:

Room decoration made of citrus fruits and spices:

There were lots of other things, too, but I didn't have my iPad with me, so the pics above are all from the Internet. But I saw exactly the same things with my very eyes!
The food was amazing, too, but outrageously expensive, so we only had a cheesy bun each and a shared mug of mulled wine. Of which I got fairly tipsy, as I practically never drink (I just don't like alcohol), much to Mum's amusement, who laughed herself silly on the tram home.
We didn't come home directly, though. We changed trains halfways and went out to the Savoya Park shopping centre, 'cause we needed to go to the post office. We had lunch there, had coffee, and totally forgot that we actually wanted to consider buying an artificial tree, despite our misgivings. Apparently, I'm not the only one whose thoughts, were a bit mixed up by half a mug of mulled wine. *g*
So, we still don't have a Christmas tree, real or artificial one, and it seems that it will be rainy in the next few days. *sigh* Noneteless, I'll have to go back to the shopping centre for my German TV program, so I might find something then.

Date: 2019-12-20 11:03 am (UTC)I gave up on Christmas trees when I moved here. I would have to re-arrange furniture to fit one in, then there's the hours decorating and undecorating it. I dress my fireplace instead. With central heating I can get away with not using my fire for a month.

Date: 2019-12-22 07:39 pm (UTC)I finally got our tree today - a real one, although we've been thinking of an artificial one for years by now, we just can't get used to the thought... not yet. We swear to get one each year when we take the tree down and wade knee deep in needles, but when Christmas time comes, all we can think about is the wonderful smell...
