Santa's socks, 1st batch

It's definitely impossible to sew 26 of these until next Thursday, but the ones I've finished turned out well enough.



They're small enough to fit into someone's palm and are supposed to serve either as Christmas tree ornaments or as gift bags. Many people prefer to give money or gift cards nowadays, and these would help to keep the Christmas spirit nonetheless. *g*

Other than that, we had choir practice with the Oldies at ungodly 8.30 again (everyone but me was top fit), ending with cookies and mulled wine as one of the ladies had her birthday, plus we had to eat up the leftovers from yesterday.

The sewing group met for the penultimate time before the fair. My disastrous shortbread cookies were a big success. I also sold some of my stuff to two colleagues who were afraid that they won't be able to get to my booth in time during the fair and wanted a pre-emptive chance to snatch what they wanted. So, all in all, I had a successful day.

Oh, and last night started snowing! I can't remember the last time Advent would start with snowfall! It was magical - until I had to go out into the wet dirt in the morning. Still magical, though.

Thanks. They're a lot of work, though. More than the teddys were, actually. But that's my fault. I always get just another idea that would make them look even better, and end up working several days on one piece.

As for the snow, it made the balcony leak slightly (this time on the other side), but it wasn't too bad, so we're not ungrateful. I wish someone could fix the dratted thing, though.

The idea comes from Mum who keeps grousing how she hates push an envelope into somebody's hand, although in these times giving money and gift cards is very practical, of course. So I thought it would save some of the festive mood if one had a tiny, Christmass-y gift bag.

As for the Oldies, I think the reason is that this was the only time slot the room in which we have our practice was free. The Gemeindehaus is small and much asked for by various organizations, and we old folk are more likely to have time in the morning.

Aw, magical snow. So pretty. We have snow, a good amount from the weekend past, and it's stayed pretty cold so the snow is not melting.
The trees and bushes are a winter wonderland.

IMO, the pretty snow ought to remain on the trees and bushes, instead of the ground where it melts and becomes mud first, which then freezes over, so that we can break our necks or legs or whatnot. I love watching the snow from a nice, cozy warm room. ;)

The socks look lovely! Something we will never see here ... a white Christmas. The rare times it does snow, it is truly magical. Snow here always melts quickly and makes a muddy mess the next day, but oh so pretty and fun while it lasts.
