So, I took Mum to church in the morning, like every Sunday. While she was there, I went to ALDI to do half the shopping. Then I fetched Mum and we went to Savoy Park, where the closest Auchan supermarket is. We had lunch - yummy giant pancakes from Il Treno - and did the other half of the shopping. Several basic food items (like margarine and fruit yoghurt) were on sale, which means I had to carry a lot when we came home. A lot of groceries plus Mum who needs support due to her aching joints and can only walk very slowly. I was dead on my feet by the time we got home.

Once here, I continued on with baking chocolate-peanut cookies for tomorrow's sewing group. It is Advent sewing, after all, and I promised my girls that there will be Advent cookies each time. If you're interested, they look like this:

This is an older picture, but the ones I made today are almost exactly the same, only a bit rounder. Sometimes they do turn out better.

When the cookies were done, I worked a bit on my beheaded XL Christmas Elves. I intend to finish them tomorrow at the sewing group. Then I cut out pieces for the large teddies I also intend to saw for the fair, translated a page and a half (or so) of "The Sins of the Mothers" and now I'm ready to fall onto my face and asleep, soon.

I seem to remember a time in the distant past when Sundays were there to, you know, rest.

It is a really, really easy recipe! I'll scan it in for you as it's in German, if you want it.

Your relationship with your mother reminds me a bit of the relationship I had with my grandmother. We became really close when I was in my 20's and could still drive. She had a hard time being active because she had emphysema but we did all sorts of things together. Museums, botanical gardens, lunches, grocery shopping. I'm SO glad I had the chance to do all of it with each other.

So am I, honestly. Grandma lived a great old age of 96 years; I told Mum that she has to outdo that record. Let's hope. :)

I hope we'll be able to do things together for years to come. She's really good company.

Did you have to walk home? I did some shopping yesterday, deciding to take just one bag, to limit my spending. I had to cram to get all my purchases in and spent the journey home switching it from hand to hand. It's only a ten minute walk but that last hill was a killer.

The main problem is to walk slowly. It exhausts me a great deal more than simply marching through as I do when on my own. We didn't walk a particularly great distance, just down the street from the tram stop, but the slow encroaching is very, very tiring.

The cookies look delicious. Hope you and Mum are able to get enough rest, holiday time can be exhausting if you let it.

It's my own stupid fault, really. I just can't resist making this little thing and that little thing and try out a third and fourth and sixth recipe and all that...
