Well, not really crappy. It's just so that rainy weather makes me terribly moody. It's so hard to read, write or sew without sufficient natural light, and I'm doing a lot of those things in these days.

In any case, we had a two-and-a-half hour choir practice in the morning, which meant I had to get up more than an hour earlier than usual. And I'm completely useless when I have to get up early. Still, the practice was good, we sang a lot of beautiful stuff, made good progress, and at the end celebrated two birthdays and a name-day. The birthday girls brought delicious cakes and the name-day boy brought champagne. One of the good things with this senior choir is that the... erm... mature ladies love to bake, and there's a birthday in almost every week. Makes for great motivation and team-building. *g*

Afterwards I made good progress with translating; nearly finished the current chapter of my [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo project, which is a relief. Of course, the chapter will need some tinkering with, as I've changed my mind about some parts of the terminology and will have to go back eventually and change the expressions from the very beginning. Made-up fake science can be sooo complicated!

Today's tiny craft project was to sew a little chest of drawers for the bedroom of the doll house quiet book. I'm pleased with the way it came out.

Other than that, I didn't do much, except for putting together lunch, solving some crossword puzzles and watching some crap telly while sewing. Now I'll have to print out a few sheets of music from the choir drive as they've dug out a couple of old favourites that I'll have to learn, since I wasn't with them yet at the time they sang it.

Sounds like you did quite a few things! And yeah, lack of natural lightning is a real bummer anyway but especially so for crafting.

Just in time for this winter, we got a new living room ceiling lamp at Mom's, similiar to the one I got last winter at my place. I'm hoping this will improve things, but I haven't yet had the opportunity to try it for crafts. Still doesn't beat natural light, though.

No, indeed, it doesn't. I've exchanged my light bulb for a cold light LED one in my room, which is marginally better, but still not the same.

Winter (to me) is depressing. We've had our first snap of cold weather and with it the cessation of this year's daylight savings time. Now DH (dear husband) not only drives to work in, but also gets home in the dark. Not too mention my other peeves about the cold season: static electricity, having to dress in layers, dry air from the home heating, wet/cold outdoor misery, influenza, and cold water baths, as the water which is barely hot when it reaches the tub, cools way to quickly. I shouldn't complain, I don't even live in the cold area of the states. Heheh, sorry for the rant, just feeling a bit pitiful today. I sprained my foot over a month ago and am still walking with a limp, so am missing my daily walks, and feeling it. So yeah, I feel for you on the lack of natural light and how it effects your mood. I know I keep repeating myself, but your new choir really sounds like fun!!!

It is fun - and very uplifting. A bunch of elderly people, some of them beyond 70 and more, with the age-related woes, and yet they are so enthusiastic about it and about connecting to each other that is sometimes makes me feel ashamed for my own whining. Unfortunately, we don't have much in common with most of them (they are the kind of conservative, religious, nation-conscious people that I'm not), but it is nice company nonetheless.
