Sooo, I gave my mini sewing machine the chance to show its thing and managed to sew together the pieces for the quiet book binding. In some places it was even straight! Yay!

I'll need some time and perhaps some help to figure out all the tricks; apparently, in some places the thread was a tad loose, and I'd prefer smaller stitches, but all in all, it went reasonably well. The little things is very fast, I'm a bit intimidated by it, but I hope I'll get used to it. That's why I liked Grandma's ancient Singer better; by operating it with my foot, I could easier adjust the speed. Ah, well, practice, practice.

I also managed to finish another batch of the paper Russian dolls... four of them, to be accurate. There will be pictures tomorrow; by the time I was done there wasn't enough natural light for a photo. They were half-done for a while, and now I'm happy to have them done. All I need now is to make 25 more, and then the needs will be covered. Fortunately, I've got time until February 1, but considering how fast time seems to be flowing through my fingers, I need to work diligently on them.

If only writing would be a mere matter of determination!

I bet you'll get used to the sewing machine ... and it already seems to work fine!
