This will be the back cover of Theo's quiet book. Made after this design by Sviatlana Balybina.

My version:

More colourful than the original, but also regrettably clumsy. It's just not possible to make the seaming evenly by hand. Not for me anyway. But Theo won't mind the crooked seams, according to his mother (my goddaughter), so I'll just give him the way it is. If I manage the binding, that is. *fingers crossed*

I'm sure he won't mind at all!

No, I don't think so, either. Not as long as he can open zippers, move the various animals to different places, pluck the apples, wiggle the ships and so on. *g*

I humbly admit that both the wales and the sun were ready-made. I did saw the airplane, the cloud and the waves myself, though.

I have my fingers crossed, too! After all this effort has been put into this project it has to work!

And I'm just getting to the binding of the book, which promises to be a real pain!

Good luck! I'm ordering some *adjustable* thimbles for myself. I'm going to try needlepoint. I have to buy 5 of them as a set on Ebay because it's cheaper than buying only one at the local craft store. Would you like me to send you one or two?

I'd love one, but I don't want to cause you unnecessary costs! Postal service tends to be unreasonably expensive.

What is needlepoint?

I want to try needlepoint and also cross stitching They are slightly different but I think either would suit the purpose of keeping my hands busy...

"Needlepoint or canvas work is a form of counted thread embroidery in which yarn is stitched through a stiff open weave canvas. Traditionally needlepoint designs completely cover the canvas.[1] Although needlepoint may be worked in a variety of stitches, many needlepoint designs use only a simple tent stitch and rely upon color changes in the yarn to construct the pattern.

The degree of detail in needlepoint depends on the thread count of the underlying mesh fabric. Needlepoint worked on a stiff canvas. Due to the inherent lack of suppleness of needlepoint, common uses include eyeglass cases, holiday ornaments, pillows, purses, upholstery, and wall hangings.[citation needed]"

Message me your address. Don't worry about the shipping. It's totally worth it to me!

I hope so. Mum is always concerned when I put so much work in the one craft project or the other that the people who receive it won't value it properly. ;))
