So, Mum and I went to the chiropodist today. It isn't such a big thing, except that we had to cross half the city (and this is a rather big city, too), and walk ungodly walkways (for Mum anyway) to get there. But this was perhaps the last time, as the chiropodist lady who usually does our feet and comes to us, instead the other way round, has recovered enough to work again. Which is a big relief for Mum.

We then came home, ate the meal prepared two days ago (but never eaten), and Mum collapsed in her armchair in front of the telly. I worked a bit on my ladybug page, and then did the same. I usually solve crossword puzzles in front of the telly, because I think the telly isn't worth to spend my time exclusively with it (I let it run because I need to hear German speech regularly, or I'd forget the language). Today, however, I fell asleep over my crossword puzzle, with the telly still running. Of course, the fact that I do these things lying on my belly (to take the strain off my legs) doesn't help...

In any case, I then went to choir practice, which was nice. I'd love to sing a solo part in one of the Russian folk songs, but our choir leader does have her favourites for such things and I rarely get into that group of selected few, even though I can do it very well, if I may state so myself, and we've been friends for a quarter century. She's a nice lady but oddly blind in some aspects. I must admit that I'm a bit disappointed, as I'd gone as far as actually mention her how much I'd like to sing the part. Ah, well, it isn't the first time and probably not the last one, either.

I'm excited about my upcoming birthday party. I hope everyone who accepted the invitation will actually show up. I know it's paranoid thinking, but once, many years ago I invited my then-friends and only one showed up. It was humiliating beyond belief. Ever since then I'm always nervous when I invite guests.

Thank you. My colleagues always have, so far, or said in time if they couldn't make it. I still can't shake off the stupid nervousness about it.

Edit: the first person just told me that she can't come, after all - the family interfered. I'm getting nervous...

Seems counter-intuitive, getting footsore visiting the chiropodist!

True. But it was just a temporary solution until our chiropodist was ill. One of Mum's friends suggested this lady, and she is very skilled indeed; better than ours, just a little. The only disadvantage is that she's so hard to reach - for us, that is. Aforementioned friend of Mum's just walks down two streets and is there. For some reason we only find the right expert on the other end of the city: the eye doctor, the dentist... and so on.

We have cable Tv, which is in Hungarian, and a satellite receiver for Astra, which is German.

I'm sorry you didn't get to sing the solo.
Hope you have a great party.

Yeah, I'm very sorry, too. I'm a founding member of this choir, but during the 14 years of its existence I very rarely got to sing the solo. It's like with Mary and Martha in the Gospel, you see.

Wish your choir director was more generous with the solo parts. I envy you for your voice! Have a happy birthday tomorrow :0)

Thank you, my friend, although tomorrow is just the party. The actual birthday is on the 9th, that is, next Wednesday, but nobody has time to party on a workday, save for us, retired people. *g*

Since my traditional virtual birthday party suffered a catastrophic failure last year, I decided not to throw a big one this year. I might have a tiny little one on the 9th for you folks. We'll see.
