Firstly, the second (and last) batch of the felt and cork Christmas ornaments. These turned out a bit odd, especially the psychedelic reindeer, but I'm taking them to the fair nonetheless. Perhaps the older kids are more into weird stuff than the traditional kitsch. *g*

And my first attempt at the paper Russian dolls. I'm quite content with the design; the actual featuring could be finer, but this is the experimental piece anyway.

Outer layer - the biggest doll:

Middle layer, which still opens up:

And the inner layer. The smallest doll is glued on:

There will be some inscription on the as-yet empty left sides, like the date of the ball and/or "Welcome" in Russian, but this is, basically, what they will look like - only in several various colours and embellishments.

Pictures of my (hopefully) amazing chocolate-almond cake (currently in the oven) coming up tomorrow.

Well, it does look like the love child of Rudolph and the mythical stag of Hungarian origin myths - on a trip. *g*

I like the reindeer. And the Russian dolls are going to work really well - such a good idea.

It will be a b*tch to make two or three dozens of them, though. I think I'll restrain myself to gifting only our choir members - they are the ones who have to learn Russian folk songs by the heart, after all.

These cards are such a simple and yet great idea. People will be so happy to receive them.

Let's hope they will. I've been thinking like crazy about how to translate the original to the two-dimensional paper medium.

Thank you. I hope to refine the design a bit as I go, but this is the basic idea, and it works!

Could you make a couple of extra dolls for me to buy at your convenience, please, one with "Happy Birthday" in Russian? The birthday isn't till March. Love the cats in the snow.

Sure thing. You can give me a teensy bit of paid LJ time in exchange and we'll both win. I'll try to send you them together with the felt Mary at the beginning of Advent. How many do you need and what should be the predominant colours?

As for the Russian text, I'll consult the colleagues who used to teach Russian, so that there won't be any stupid mistakes. :)

thank you so much. I like blue, green, pink or purple. I've sent you 6 months LJ time. Would that be enough for a felt one too?

I have a couple of felt ones in reserve, so that won't be a problem. How many paper ones do you need?

That's great, thank you. I'd like one paper one for my friend and one to keep.

Duly noted. :)
I'll post the pictures when I've got a few of them done, and you can choose the ones you like most.

I love the felt ornaments, they all look great. The paper Russian dolls are also cute. Nice that you will be able to personalize them with the date of the ball and text.

The truth is, I love my colleagues (well, most of them) and the people I sing in the choir with. It's always a delight to make little things for them.
