The Orville

I was fortunate to find a source to watch the series online - that way I was spared the necessity to order it on DVD. It would have been something of a waste. I like The Orville well enough, some of the stories are good, others are a bit meh, but I don't think of it as anything else but devoted Star Trek fanfic - the visual kind of it. Of course, the horrible Hungarian dubbing takes away much of the enjoyment, and sometimes the CGI is a bit wacky, but still, it's solid entertainment. I doubt I'd be re-watching it time and again, but for once, it was fine.

I think it's a bit silly but it has grown on me, esp. in season 2.

Same here. The humour is an acquired taste, especially in Season 1. but it is a relief to watch a sci-fi show that isn't all doom and gloom and dystopic, full of unlikeable characters. The Orville bunch is fun, and I like it that Dr Finn has her boys on board with her. Now if only one of the guys would fell for a weird alien, not just the women, my happiness would be complete. *g*

Are you in season 2 yet? Because ... boys falling for girls ...

I've just watched Episode 8, I think - the one where they're dealing with Moclan sexual orientation again. And yes, there are boys falling for girls, but that's not the same as Dr. Finn's rather unusual love life. I find that I enjoy the show nonetheless.

I'm actually glad I found it. As I said, it's like TNG fanfic, just visual. It would have annoyed me, had I actually spent money on it, but like fanfic, it is fun.

I think you'll like it - assuming you liked Star Trek - The Next Generation. It's quite similar. Like good fanfic.
