This is the special pottery edition - again, only a sample of all the riches that could be found there.

Starting with Mum at one of the potters' booths:

Continued with a booth where they sold bird-shaped clay whistles - the various shapes produced various sounds, too! On the left side: another basket-weaver:

All sorts of Transylvanian pottery:

A lady potter, working on her wheel:

So, this was the fair, basically, for us. As I mentioned before, I couldn't take any good pics of the embroiderers and leather workers, not to mention a lot of other stuff, but I hope it gives you the general idea.

I'd have no money left with so many beautiful things.

I took some money with me, but everything was so horrendously expensive that I decided the entrance fee would be enough extravagancy for one day. So I just admired everything... for free. ;)

Ooh, I just love the ceramics. I took a ceramics class ages ago at university, tried learning the potting wheel. But, I was short so had a hard time turning the wheel and keeping my arms positioned correctly, so what I made came out crooked. I also skipped too many classes as ceramics was really messy and I had an English class right after with a professor that was strict about appearance. To my immense regret, I dropped the class midway. I truly wish I had stuck it out and learned the craft well. At the end of each of my two years at Uni, the metalworkers and potters guild held a show. I was lucky (and sort of sad) to participate and sell my jewelry and hollow ware. But I really loved the potters' wares. I still have two beautiful hand thrown ceramic pots that I bought for cheap. The purpose of the show was to highlight our crafts and benefit the guilds, so all work was sold at reasonable (under market value) prices. Unfortunately, both jewelry/metalsmithing and ceramics are no longer taught as main specializations at my University. The potters' and metalworkers' guild is long defunct, also the annual show. I really miss those days. Your pictures brought back the memories, although our "fair" was on a much smaller scale.

Fairs are amazing. It's a shame that yours no longer works. I've been wanting to go to this one for years, it just never happened, for one reason or another. I'm so glad we managed it this year, despite the godawful heat.
