I've finished the first batch of the little purses and I'm fairly content with the results. They're not perfect, for sure, I had the devil's own time to figure out the right order in which to put them together, but I'm more confident about the whole thing now.

Here are the first 4 pretties, closed:

And this is what they look like opened:

I put a coin into each other, for good luck for the buyers - it is also an excellent way to get rid of no longer valid foreign coins (mostly Italian 50 lira ones) without having to throw them out. *g*

I've also finished the first doughnut-shaped felt key ring and I'm very happy with the outcome. There'll be pictures once I'm done with the first batchh.

They are very sweet. That's really clever about the coins!

It was a spontaneous idea, but I'm glad the poor coins got a purpose after all the Euro years. *g*

Nice - I esp. Like the one in the bottom right corner.

That is Mum's favourite as well. She said it reminded her of a deerskin purse.

Hehe, actually this is a fairly simple pattern. Once I've cut out the pieces and found the right decoration - [livejournal.com profile] elwenlj's gift package was a great source of the latter - the rest was just slave labour. Pushing the needle through four layers of felt can be a real pain sometimes. Especially with these, where I had to use really hard felt, or else the purses wouldn't keep their shape.

Neat. And I like the coins in them.

I hope the customers will like the idea, too. :)

They came out really nice! Do you use a thimble when you sew the felt? I always had a hard time keeping one on, but my grandmother used hers religiously. Any type of hand sewing leaves my fingers full of needle pricks. The seam on the sole on my wool slippers has ripped and I have to use pliers to pull the needle through to make the repair. Such a pain, but they are my favourite pair.

Yeah, I know the feeling about beloved old things one doesn't have the hearth to throw out.
And no, I don't use a thimble. I know I should, but it hinders me very much. I have thick fingers, and the only thimble big enough to fit (Grandma's Precioussss) got lost somehow.
