... to put it mildly. TBH, I pretty much wasted it. *sigh*

As I'm getting tired of Kansas 2 after 31 finished chapters (54 are in the planning), I was considering taking a break from it. That usually means either I pick up one of my other never-ending WIPs, or start another story, in the vain hope that it would be something short, for a change.

As a rule, this is the situation when I get started on one of the unfilmed Star Trek story ideas that I found in some background books. They are very handy: the story is already laid out, usually even divided into five acts and a prologue, one knows the characters and their peculiarities, and so on. Sometimes I even manage to write one under 10 chapters!

Thus, since I was in self-destructive mode today, I decided that I'll start one to get some distance between me and the Crossover from Hell (= Kansas 2). Only to realize that I've already written the really good ones (like Terminus, The Crystal Skull, The Immunity Syndrome, Blood and Fire, Blood and Ice and so on). The remaining four are... problematic at best (because there is one I don't even consider to touch). I gave the most promising one some thought, but wasn't able to think of any good opening scenes, so I put it away again.

Unfortunately, research and related stuff cost me all morning. And then I wasted the early afternoon with peeling the coating off from half a dozen CDs, just because I wanted to show something done at the end of the day. Because I didn't feel like working on the last little mermaid, and cooking a quick lunch really isn't such an accomplishment.

In the late afternoon we were invited over by our neighbour who had her name day recently (she's called Anna). We had a nice enough visit, save that Mum always gets a headache because neighbour lady talks a lot and rather loudly. Other than that, she's a really helpful and reliable and kind neighbour - just a bit stressing as company.

We also had very mild raind most of the day, but that's okay. The balcony can handle mild rain. It made the air too humid for my comfort, but at least cooled down the area.

I know that... in theory. I still feel guilty for not using the time I finally have the way I always wanted to, though.
