As I've told the [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo folks ('cause we really can't be called a crowd this time, unfortunately), I've given up on Kansas 2 for the time being. I'm just too exhausted to wrestle with the muse. This redecorating crap has brought me to the very brink of my endurance: my legs are ruined for a good while, and I'm a bit shaken mentally, too. So, I left Kansas 2 on the back burner until I recover a bit.

But I've actually finished the first little mermaids. Here is the front view of the first two:

And this is what they look on the back:

Obviously, I need to figure out how to stuff them so that their faces and bodies would be smooth but without the thick necks I've managed to produce, and I've gone overboard with the decoration a bit, but they served well for trying out various techniques, so I'm fairly content. At least I've learned what not to do, although the problem of nice, slim necks still hasn't been solved.

Thanks, but I actually found the pattern on Pinterest, and there are still a few mistakes I need to iron out with the next dolls. I've already made a smaller one, and that looks a tad better, but the neck problem isn't solved yet.

If you don't stuff the necks enough though, the heads will flop over, won't they? Anyway, I think they are utterly adorable!

The faces wrinkle, too, if they aren't stuffed tightly enough, ad you can see on the bolond one.

Not exactly how I intended them to be, but I think they'll do.

Oh - they're very cute.
Give them a necklace, then the necks won't show?

Could you use a draw thread and then hide it with a necklace...or even just use a tight neclace? They are absolutely adorable. :D

That's a good idea, I 'll give it a try, thanks.
