More baby journal picspam

Today I thought I'd finished section four (out of five) of Baby Emma's journal. But when I carried it to Mum full of pride, so that she could be properly amazed, I discovered, for my dismay, that I'd managed to overlook a double page. So, final pages tomorrow, but I still have half a dozen to show off.
At first come the double pages in two versions: first with the cards/flaps closed, then the open version. The colours still aren't entirely true, for some reason I can't reproduce the proper pastel effect, but I've done my best with the pic editor. As always, click to enlarge.

And finally the back cover of section four - which might become section one when I finalize the journal, but it doesn't really matter, does it? *g*

I also made an attempt at a leftover traybake today. I had lots of frozen egg whites, as many recipes need the egg yolks only, and I didn't want to throw out the whites. I also had lots of walnuts from last year in the freezer, plus a jar of apricot jam that needed to be used up, some dried cranberries, and I bought some ready-made pie crust because it was on sale (= half price). I combined all those with some grated dark chocolate (also leftovers), and this is what came out of it:

Yeah, I know. It looks like a plate of particularly unappetizing digestives. The problem is, my otherwise so reliable baking book lied when it stated that you can use frozen egg whites as if they were fresh ones. You cannot. You can beat them until your arm gets numb, but they won't double their volume as they are supposed to, although they do look white and fluffy. But the ugly things are delicious, so it's okay, I guess.

Date: 2019-04-27 09:19 am (UTC)The most common Hungarian term is Anyu, which is the rough equivalent of Mummy, but several other versions are widely used, too. That is what I use anyway.
