I had to block another idiot on FF.Net. They started reading my very AU "Enterprise" story and picking out nonexistent mistakes and things they disagreed with in every chapter. I answered them twice, in a fairly civil manner, then decided not to put up with their shit any longer.

I have zero interest in what they would have done in my place. They have no stories whatsoever posted and are clearly mostls interested in Harry Potter - with very strong opinions about what should and what shouldn't happen in Potterfic. Without having written anything so far, obviously. I suggested them that they should perhaps write their own story, for their full satisfaction.

I wish one could delete signed reviews on FF.Net, too. I'm sick and tired of people who only read to have something to complain about.

Those that can, do. Those that can’t criticise. I think the best response is what you did - suggest they write their own story. Everytime I see that written in a reply it makes me laugh - it is so snarky and poised and perfect.

Hello and welcome back!

I'm just sorry than on FF.Net you can't reply directly on the review board. My fine snark goes lost on the one it's adressed to, I'm afraid, if sent by PM.

Forgot to add: If you want a hand-stitched Easter card, comment on the pinned entry above. I still have a few left.

Good grief! If they're upset at Pottafic not going exactly as they'd imagined it then they'll be busy to the end of time.
Perhaps send them to "Draco in leather pants" and tell them to knock themselves out.

Nah, I actually despise Harry Potter, from original books through films to fanfic. But I went to the bio page of aforementioned idiot to see what they're usually dealing in, and saw not a single story to their own but a loooong rant about what they don't like in Potterfic.

I don't know what moved them to read my Enterprise story (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11947705/1/Enterprise-The-Maiden-Voyage), but I wish they hadn't. It annoys me to no end that you can't remove signed reviews on FF.Net and neither can you answer idiot reviewers directly on the review board, so that people could see that they were wrong.

Edited cuz my grammar is deteriorating. Somebody must have cursed me for not liking the Pottverse. *g*

I had a friend read one of my new stories "The Thief". All she said was I should not use the word "copyist" not a single word over whether she liked the story or not. I wish people could think of positive as well as negative things.

I very much agree. I mean, I did a great deal of creative world-building with Enterprise-The Maiden Voyage (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11947705/1/Enterprise-The-Maiden-Voyage), studied canon in minute detail as always and hung a big, honking AU label on the story, so what the hell do they want more?

At first I used to wonder why someone who (a)did not pay to read a work and (b)presumably has full use of the 'back' button, would criticise a fic. Then I realised that it's actually about power. It's a powerless person trying to bring down someone they perceive of having that power (popularity). Your reply was perfect. Let them have their little power play. They're not worth worrying about.

I'm not worried, I'm pissed off. I put so much work and research in these stories, it's annoying that people mean to find mistakes, while it was them who hadn't checked canon facts in time. The other thing that drives me up the walls is when people try to tell me how I ought to see this character or that character. I see them as I see them and, as you said, if they don't like it, they can use the Back button.

For some reason I seem to attract such "critics". I have since I posted my first story to the Net a decade and a half ago. *sigh*

I remember have someone on ff.net reviewing one of my more popular MFU stories and offering to 'teach' me how to write appropriate MFU fic, since I obviously didn't know what I was doing. The fact that he had written any himself was beside the point.

I get one every once in a while, usually attacking a slash piece...

People like that do annoy me. I did once tell someone that if he ever got around to writing the story that he wanted to let me know...

You know, I'm not sure I'd like to read the kind of stories these people are obviously looking for...
