Another busy day
Feb. 11th, 2019 09:01 pmI've run out of Bepanthen Plus for Mum's injury, so I had to go out in the morning to the pharmacy to buy some more. I asked the pharmacist lady about antibacterial salves and she said that is the right one, so I did well. Phew! Bought another tube, so we're well covered for the next few days.
I then dropped in at school to see one of my colleagues who'll be going to the hospital tomorrow to be operated on. I gave her a teddy as a get-well present, and so that she'd have some company all the time. When Mum was operated ten years ago, she, too, had a teddy with her (not the same one, of course), and she said it was great moral support. My colleague was pleased by the gift.
Coming home, I quickly baked a tinful of cheesy buns for the upcoming visit of my oldest cousin, which was a pleasant affair. Both he and his wife are really nice people. We don't see each other often, as they live outside the city (on the other side of it), but he calls regularly and asks after Mum and all that. Other cousins who live two streets away never show their faces, even though Mum is the last of her generation still with us.
Anyway, we had a very pleasant time together, with the only minus that when they were leaving Mum stumbled just a tiny bit in her eagerness to show them off. My cousin helpfully grabbed her - at the injured arm. It wasn't very bad, but it irritated the injury a bit, so there was some minor bleeding - more seeping, actually - but I just can't help worrying. I know that these injuries heal very slowly, and I'm relieved that the way I treated hers was right, but every setback makes me really, really nervous.
In any case we are both very tired and decided to postpone our visit to the retirement office one day. That way we'll have the chance to go through the huge stack of papers carefully tomorrow, catch our breaths and face the many-headed hydra of bureaucracy the day after.
