Small woes
Dec. 23rd, 2018 06:29 pmApologies, should I suddenly switch to German in the middle of this post. I don't intend to, but my baking vocabulary is very poor in English, and I don't have enough functioning brain cells to look up every other word in the dictionary.
So, basic facts: Mum and I are both sick like dogs, coughing like crazy and nothing seems to help properly. Not even the rather amateurish but very tasty punch I've made an hour ago, in the hope that it will warm us up a bit. We haven't left the house in two days and don't intend to do so in the next three days, unless she gets miraculously better and wants to go to church. (She would have gone today, despite sickness, but she knew I wouldn't let her go alone and chose to stay home for my sake. I was very relieved - for her sake.
Which is all nice and good, as we have enough food stored to bridge us over - everything but bread. We originally planned to do some last-minute shopping today. So I'll have to bake Hefezopf tomorrow, so that I can use some of the bread for the filling of the Brathähnchen I was planning to cook on Christmas Day. I don't really want to, but it's inevitable. At least I won't have to cook tomorrow, as we have ungodly amounts of Pilaf left, so two other meals are covered.
Other than that, I slept in today, after a much-disturbed night (by coughing), finished the last batch of Christmas tree candies, wrapped them and prepared them to be hung on the Christmas tree tomorrow. Nothing else was done today, unless feeling like shit counts. *sigh*
