Nov. 13th, 2018 07:53 pmToday was really long. I sacrificed my writing hours in the morning for getting Mum to the other side of the city, where I dumped her onto one of her friends - they were visiting a mutual friend who doesn't get out much any longer - and then hit the craft shops. Naturally, I ended up with spending a shocking amount of money on designer craft paper (beautiful) and permanent white, gold and silver markers (they were on sale).
Then I went to an eatery to have lunch. Unfortunately, they didn't have anything I felt like eating (although they really have a wide selection), so I ate broccoli cream soup and an ungodly serving of tiramisu (although I suspect it didn't have much to do with actual tiramisu - still it was good) before going to work.
There I finally met the New Guy (the replacement of the silly ex-colleague who didn't speak with me in the last two months or so). Well... I'll hold back my judgement for a while yet. Everyone deserves a chance, right? Still, I find him odd.
After work, we had choir practice and M, our choir leader gave me a lift home, as is her wont. I'm really grateful for this; I hate coming home in the dark, plus I had to take home the 30 eggs I'd ordered, and other assorted stuff. (In the hope that they'll, in fact, give us our gas back tomorrow, and I can finally cook and bake again.) She also gave me my belated birthday gift: some artful photo frames and a 1000-gram Panettone cake, which we cut for supper. Health food is something else, but at least this is delicious - not to mention very soft, so Mum doesn't have problems with eating it.
